Chapter 19 Malie City Festival Pt 1

A\N Winter Break is finally here. Which means I get to start writing again. In this chapter we begin the fun at the Malie City Festival.

The time for the Malie City Festival has come. It has been declared that this festival would be going on the whole weekend with different main events on different days. Except for the tournament. That goes on all three days. The first day had a lot of different shows to start off the weekend, like magic and talent shows. The last major event was part 1 of the tournament. The second day had the contest, parade and the second part of the tournament. You couldn't wait to participate in the contest. You were nervous, but you and Sylveon practiced your routine many times. The last day was the tournament finals. It was going to be a long fun weekend. You couldn't wait to see everything all decorated. Especially the garden. Hopefully this festival cheers Gladion up. He seems a bit depressed since he can't walk still. Even if he's gotten used to it. If only he could get better faster.

You all woke up early the next day. We were going to go as a big group. You, Gladion, Lillie, Lusamine and Hau. Hau was going to meet you guys there. When everyone was ready to go, you took off by boat to Malie City. When you arrived, the whole city looked bright and festive. Color full banners and paper lanterns where everywhere and the streets were filled with stands. There were a lot of fun stuff to do, play games and rides. "I need to go sign up for the tournament first" Gladion reminded you. Right. Better to get that done first. "I'm going to go look for Hau, I'll meet you two at the show stage. The first show starts in half an hour" Lillie explained. Sounds good. Lillie took her mother with her, leaving you and Gladion to find where the tournament was. No surprise the garden. Entering the beautifully decorated garden, you took Gladion to the sign up station over by the ice cream shop. Singing his name on the clipboard, the rules stated you were only allowed one Pokemon to enter. "Who are you going to pick Gladion?" you asked him. Even for you, this was a tough decision. "I'm going to choose Lucario" he said. This would be great to see Lucario fight. Gladion hasn't had much of a chance to train lately. "You two are going to make a great team" you smiled. Gladion handed the clipboard back to the receptionist. She took a quick look and then handed Gladion his number. Wonder why they handed out numbers? Maybe for the element of surprise. Gladion was number 27. (Get it? It has to do with the anime. Comment below if you know lol) "There's still a lot of room for more people" Gladion said. Hopefully the spots will fill so you could see the whole tournament unfold for the battle to the top.

As you and Gladion turned to leave, Hau ran up. "Hey. I'm glad I found you guys" he smiled. Lusamine, Lillie and little Jess with her Herdier were right behind. "Look who I bumped into" Hau said referring to Jess. Jess and Herdier ran over, "Hi miss\mister champion and her\his boyfriend" she said hello. Her Herdier barked as well. "Hi Jess. Are you here for the festival?" you asked even though you knew the answer. She nodded, "Yea. I heard you were gonna battle the tournament winner and I wanted to see you battle" she replied. She was adorable. "I know. I'm looking forward to it" you said. "I gotta go sign up. I'll be back" Hau said running past.

Hau didn't take long to return. "Okay let's go see that magic show" he said happily. "It starts in ten minutes" Lillie added. "We better hurry up and get there" you said. You went to push Gladion's wheelchair when Jess got in front of you. "I want to push him for you" she told you. You were a bit surprised. "Why?" you asked curious. "Because he's a good boyfriend and I want to help you take care of him" she answered honestly. Nosebleed anyone? If your heart could explode from cuteness overload, it would've. "Okay" you allowed her. It took Jess a moment to put enough effort into pushing Gladion. Her whole head barely peeking over the wheel chair. For a little girl. She had a lot more guts then you did. Going into danger like she did to help Gladion get to you. You admired it. She'll make a great trainer one day. If that was what she wanted. Making it to the performance stage, you all found spots to sit down. You sat near the end next to Gladion, who was stuck in his wheelchair. Poor thing was probably sick of sitting in that thing. You remember that he told you that he was going to 'burn the wheelchair once he could walk again'. You don't blame him. "I haven't seen a magic show since I was a little girl" Lusamine squealed excited. "I wonder if they're going to use all psychic type Pokemon or other types" said Lilly. "I want to see an Alakazam!" Hau said excited. Soon enough the stage curtains flew open and a couple wearing magicians outfits came on stage. "Welcome everyone to our Magic show. Be prepared to have your minds blown away as us and our Pokemon preform mind opening tricks" the woman announced. The crowd cheered and clapped in response. The woman left the stage, leaving only the man. "Please allow me and my partner Pokemon to perform the first act. Delphox and Kadabra, time for our act" the man summoned out his Pokemon. Both Pokemon took a bow and started their routine. "Alright Delphox start us off with your Mystical Fire" the man said. Delphox used its stick wand to create dazzling rings of fire. The four rings spread about the stage "Kadabra use Shock Wave" the man ordered next. Kadabra gave the rings a jolt of electricity, causing the flames to turn spark with blue fire. It was a beautiful color. "Now Delphox Fire Blast". Each flame exploded in a flash of blue, red and orange sparks and embers. Almost like a fireworks. The crowd applauds. "Now Kadabra set up a Light Screen". Kadabra set up a see throughable screen of light. "Delphox set the screen on fire" the man said next. With a wave of the stick wand, the screen were set ablaze and were now unsee throughable. Both Pokemon moved behind the screen. "Ally Switch" the man said. In a puff of Mystical Fire and smoke, the screen faded to reveal the female magician and her two Pokemon, Oricorio (Pink) and Jynx.

After the magic show, which lasted about 30 minutes, you were kinda in the mood for a snack. "Anyone up for some food?" you asked. "That sounds like a great idea" Lusamine and Hau both agreed. Lillie pointed out to one of the stands nearby that seemed to be themed around the magic show. There were spoon shaped cookies for Kadabra, Delphox cupcakes, Oricorio macaroons and Jynx cake pops. All the decorations looked too good to eat. The whole group went to go try some. You gave Gladion a spoon cookie and yourself a (pick treat). It tasted so sweet. It satisfied your need for a snack. You all talked about the show for a few minutes. Jess, Hau and Lusamine enjoyed it immensely. Maybe a little too much. It almost reminded you of the contest. But that's not until tomorrow.

Returning back to the garden, it was time to announce the battles. There were a total of 64 participants. That was a big number. Who was going to make it further? Hau or Gladion? You can't wait to watch the battles. As the man read off the list, Hau, number 32, was up against number 15. Gladion was up against number 60. This battle would most likely be done about two at a time at spate ends of the garden. Gladion nor Hau was in the first two battles. They probably won't be battling for a while. There was a billboard with the battle order for today. By sunset, the number would be reduced to 32 trainers.
