Chapter 23 : Malie City Semi Finals

Y/N I apologize for the major delay, my math class has been taking all my time this semester. Freaking math >:(

After you performance you waited backstage as the show finished. Once the judges were satisfied, all the performers were called back on stage to announce the top 3 winners. You stood with Sylveon with everyone else. To you, it didn't matter if you won or not. This was just something you wanted to try. It was fun and maybe you could do it again sometime. Even if you had to beg Gladion to join in with you.

"Coming in first place is..... Jewels and her Persian!"

Everyone applauded. Better luck next time, you guess. You almost zoned out knowing you weren't going to be picked. When the awards were over you fought your way through the crowd to find everyone. Everyone you passed seemed to be complemented on how good you did. It didn't compare to the winners but you felt like you had a first good run. "Hey (Y\N) over here!" shouted Hau. Sylveon ran under the crowd beating you, but you eventually got there. "You were amazing" said Hau. "Yes you were. Almost makes me want to go back to performing" Lusamine considered. "You should've seen Gladion's face (Y\N) ;) He couldn't keep his eyes off ya" Hau teased. Gladion smacked him, "I have a right to stare at my (girl\boy) friend" he said. "I don't think 'stare' is the right word" Hau mocked. You smiled, "That's okay Hau. He can stare at me all he wants ;)" you winked. Gladion blushed.

When it was time, the group headed to watch the semifinals of the tournament. Everyone left would battle it out until 4 trainers remained. That means Gladion and Hau will have to battle twice today. That's about 24 battles. Goodness, this was going to last all day. If they do two battle at a time that cuts it down to about 12. Needless to say, it was still going to be awhile. You grabbed a schedule to see what the order was of the battles. Gladion and Hau didn't had some time to wait before they could go in for round two. After that round there would be an intermission to calculate the next round. "I bet Gladion and I are gonna make it to the finals" said Hau. Well duh. "You two better" you joked. "I agree. I have to see how my baby boy has grown" Lusamine said in a motherly fashion giving Gladion a smothering hug. Gladion rolled his eyes "Mom" he said a bit annoyed at Lusamine's baby talk. You couldn't help but giggle\chuckle at Gladion's embarrassment. Nothing embarrasses a boy more than his mother. It was cute to see though. Lusamine gave Gladion a kiss on his forehead, increasing his embarrassment.

Time passed by and it was time for Gladion and Hau to get down to the stadium area. "Come on momma's boy" Hau teased him. You could see Gladion's cheeks go red again, "At least your mother isn't here to embarrass you" said Gladion. Hau smiled, "Even if she was, I wouldn't care. Hugs and kisses don't embarrass me" he said proudly. Maybe not from Hau's mom but from Lillie, you begged to differ. "Good luck Gladion" you smiled at him. He smiled back for a second before reverting to his serious self. You could freaking nosebleed at his smiles.

When they left, the battles began. Hau and Gladion had their second and third battles. Both of them winning. "The last day of the festival will contain the four finalist you see before you. Who will win it all? You'll have to tune in tomorrow" said the announcer. By this time it was already close to sun set. Hau and Gladion were in good spirits. "Let's go get some dinner, I'm starving!" declared Hau. You all left back to the Aether Paradise. Lusamine ordered some take out. (Your fav fast food) was on the menu tonight. You all sat around the kitchen table, waiting for the food to arrive. "You both were awesome today. I bet you both will battle it out for the first place spot" you said. "Me too. I can't wait to wipe that smug grin off of Hau's face" taunted Gladion. Hau gave Gladion a blank expression, "Well Vaporeon and I won't make it easy for ya" he defended himself. Vaporeon vs Lucario. There was no clear type advantage, this battle ought to be interesting. "I know you both will do your best" said Lillie. "By the way (Y\N) doesn't' the winner get to battle you?" Hau recalled. You froze. You almost totally forgot. "It's just for sport, you'll be fine" Gladion told you. You vs Hau or Gladion! You better bring your A game. "I know. I just hope you two are ready......" you started all depressed, "FOR ME TO KICK YOUR BUTT!" you declared with enthusiasm. "All this talk is getting me all pumped up for tomorrow. I can't wait!" Hau said.

You woke up really early the next morning for some reason. The clock read 5:27am. You tossed and turned in bed. Nothing was helping. There was no way you were just going to stay up, there was no point. Maybe if you just had a stroll to the kitchen for a drink, you'd be able to go to back to sleep again. You pulled yourself out of bed and walked down the hallway half asleep. Filling up a cup of room temperature water, you drank it all. If that didn't solve your problem, then you didn't know what was next. "Dear what are you doing up so early?" someone asked. You saw Lusamine still in her pajamas. "Just getting a drink so I can go back to bed" you told her. She nodded, "I see. I thought it had to do something with Gladion" she said. Why would she think that? He defiantly still asleep. "Not at all" you replied. She looked a bit surprised, "Is that so? One of my maids said she saw him heading to the conservation area around 5 o' clock. I thought maybe you would know why" she informed you. What is he thinking? He should be resting in bed. Looks like you'll have to drag him back to bed then. You yawn, "I'll go see what he's up to" you told her heading out to the elevator.

Heading down to the conservation area, it became clear that Gladion was there. Besides the other Pokemon you could hear something else going on. Not sure what exactly. You followed the sounds and finally found Gladion. He had fallen out of his wheelchair and was lying on the ground. Lucario was different. It glowed with an unknown aura. It was scary. You ran over to Gladion to help him up. "Are you alright?" you asked. Gladion was surprised to see you, but didn't say anything about it. "I have to help Lucario" he said. You picked him up. Looking at Lucario, it had a seriousness to it. But slowly it started to lose it like as if it were in pain. Its paws were on its head, and it was shaking its head as it was being tortured by a horrible headache. Its howls were sad and painful. Gladion called out to his Pokemon, but it was no use. "Gladion what's going on?" you asked. Gladion's face had a look of shame, "I wanted to see if Lucario could handle mega evolution" he told you "But there was a chance that it could be too much for the Pokemon to handle" he finished. It wasn't Gladion or Lucario's fault. It just needed to be trained for just like anything else. Sure, Lucario wasn't ready now, but doesn't mean it won't ever be. "Don't worry. You and Lucario will figure things out" you told him. He nodded. Now all we need to do was clam Lucario down and revert it back to normal. You were sure it could hear Gladion calling its name. You put Gladion back on the ground. He looked at you funny, "What are you doing?" he asked confused. "Just lay down like your hurt. I'm sure Lucario will want to help you if it sees you" you told him. He understood the plan. "Lucario! Gladion's hurt you got to help him!" you yelled. You're voice crack mind sentence due to your drowsiness. Lucario almost immediately stopped its thrashing. Its eyes landed on Gladion. Seeing the distress, although fake, was enough. It stood up having regained its composure. However, it didn't hold the mega form for long and fell over, reverting back to normal. You pulled Gladion onto his wheel chair and pushed him to Lucario. Gladion forced himself out and onto the ground next to Lucario. "I'm sorry. I should've known better" he told his Pokemon. Lucario, still conscious but exhausted, looked at its trainer. It pushed itself onto its knees. It wasn't angry or sad. Lucario stood up on its wobbly legs. It gave Gladion a reassuring gesture that it wasn't over. Gladion rested easy, "So you want to do this. Then we will. We'll train everyday if we have to. You and I will master mega evolution" Gladion told his Pokemon. Lucario barked in agreement. The determination of Pokemon will never cease to amaze you. Gladion fixed up Lucario and returned it back into its ball.

You wheeled Gladion back to his room and got him into bed. All that excitement was enough to get you back to bed. But you weren't sure you could walk back to your own room at this point. "It'll just be a few hours" Gladion said practically inviting you to lie down with him. Screw your bed. You'd be happy to lie down with him. You flopped down next to him and he pulled the covers over.
