A\N I think I will have all four members of therecon squad appear, but I might have them either all together or separate atcertain times. I know you guy were waiting to Mantine surf, so here it is.Also this music is so hyped and badass!
Since you already were on Melemele, the first Kahuna to talk to could be Hala. Going back to Iki Town, you managed to meet up with him for a few minutes since he was quite busy. "Kahuna Hala, as a champion what should I do? I can't just sit around and do nothing. I'm sure I could help you and the other kahunas", you asked him sincerely. Hala looked intrigued, "I'm glad you asked. Since we had no champion before, this indeed would be new. But I think you are on the right track. As Kahunas we help people and Pokemon alike. We help with any problems and give protection if they need it. You may need to explore some and figure it out on your own. Just follow your heart and help others. You can't go wrong" he explained. He couldn't give you a clear answer but you did have a piece of the puzzle. Hala was right, just like the Kahunas and even the trial captains, they all work to help people and Pokemon. It was clear you should do the same. Though you can't just stay in one place, nor can you be traveling constantly from island to island. This certainly will take more time to think about. But if anybody needed you, you were willing to help. The plan was still to get all of the Kahuna's opinions. So next stop would be Akala.
"I heard they got this new thing called Mantine Surfing on Big Wave beach. You can travel to the next island riding on a Mantine", Hau said. If something was fun, Hau certainly was the first to find out. "I'm not sure if I'd want to ride a Mantine. I'd be too nervous. I also have the egg to watch over", Lillie commented. That was true. Lillie would have to take the ferry to the next island. You wanted to go with her, but you couldn't say no to ride a Mantine. Sorry Lillie. "That's alright Lillie, we can just meet up in HeaHea City" you reassured her. She was relieved. "You three better get surfing before it gets too late. It is 3pm" Lillie suggested. No time like the present.
You dropped of Lillie at the docks and then went straight for the beach. Everything looked new and exciting. You were willing to try, even if the thought of you falling off your Mantine made you a bit nervous. "Let's just hope this is easier than it looks", you said. Like seriously. "It'll be fine", Hau said as he walked up to the booth. "If you fall off, just don't panic", Gladion advised you. Panicking was the last thing you wanted to do. After registering, the three of you got into your swimwear. It sure has been awhile since you saw Gladion shirtless ;). You almost missed hearing the entire explanation of how to surf on a Mantine, because of how distracted you were. Damn him being shirtless.
The instructor gave you some final instructions before seeing you three off on the Mantines. Balancing on the swimming Pokemon, wasn't so easy to do. It did take some getting used to, which meant you fell a few times into the water before even getting into deeper waters. You were disappointed in yourself. You were gonna try harder to get this technique down.By the time you reached the waves, you managed to get your balance problem fixed. " Let's do this!!!", Hau shouted as he was the first one to ride a wave on his Pokemon (I've been watching too much Original151 and Dobbs on YouTube lately. They're Pokemon youtubers) It wasn't that big of a wave, but he did have more guts to try things more quickly than you did. Once Hau got started, he just took off. He looked like he was having a blast, doing tricks and riding the waves. You wanted in. Although getting started was going to be a bit of a problem. You'll just have to suck it up. Gladion, and his Mantine, swam up next to you. "You want to ride the waves with me?", Gladion asked. OMG YEEESSSSS PLEASE! "I'd love to", you answered. "Ok. Just have your Mantine follow right behind mine. I'll lead the way", he told you. Good, all you had to do was focus on following him. Until you were well off to do ride on your own. You told your ride to follow Gladion and it obeyed.
As the first wave began to form, Gladion got his Pokemon ready. You followed behind, nervous to see the wave gain height. Once the wave was safe to ride, the two of you rode it. Though not very high at first. You could feel the cold wind and some water hit you. You also were gaining a bit of speed. You were scared for a little bit, you could've fell in the water at any moment. But as you look at Gladion, who was steady and focused, you reminded yourself that you had to be calm and not panic like he told you. The best thing you could do was mimic his posture. So you did, and everything became easier for you. "You want to ride higher?", you could hear Gladion ask you barely over the sound of the ocean. "Sure!", you told him making sure he could hear you. He nodded and waited for the next wave to form. Just how high were you going to go? As another waves formed, the two of you gained speed and rode up the side, almost reaching the top. The higher you rode up the wave, the more Butterfrees you got in your stomach. Though it wasn't super bad, like you thought it be. As the wave ended, Gladion wanted to show you how to do a trick. Was that part of the tutorial? Must have missed it. You stayed level with the ocean as you watched Gladion ride a wave. He gathered enough speed and his Mantine took him to the top of the wave, where they both seemed to leap off the top. You were in awe. Gladion rode the wave down and back to you. You weren't sure if you'd be that skilled at doing that. "Now you try", Gladion told you. How'd you know he was going to say that? "Um. Ok. Mantine let's do the same thing. You think you can do that same trick?", you asked your ride Pokemon. Mantine nodded and didn't hesitate to take you to the next wave.
You felt your heartbeat quacking. Hopefully this would go well. You rode the wave until you gained enough speed. Once you did, your Mantine rode the wave up, until you both were able to leap over the wave. For a second, if felt like you were flying. Instinctively, you crouch down as you and Mantine turned around to ride the wave back down. You couldn't help but close your eyes, riding back down the wave. "It wasn't the bad right? You did fine", Gladion told you. You opened your eyes and stood back up, "It was kinda fun", you admitted. It was, you just had to get used to it to be able to fully enjoy it. Perhaps, you would do this again. (Comment if you would like to travel to the next island on a surfing Mantine again)
By the time you felt confident enough to ride by yourself, it was almost time to end the fun. You had enough for one more wave. "Ride this wave with me", Gladion said. Wonder what it is? You surfed the wave next to him and waited. You kinda heard him say something to his Mantine, but it wasn't clear. His Mantine made contact with the wave and it suddenly grew bigger. So big that it started to curve over the both of you. Were you going to get crushed by this thing? The wave eventually made a full circle, you then knew what was happening. You recall that surfers do this sort of thing all the time. It was neat to be surround by water like this. Time seem to go by slower and you enjoyed the wind in your face and the fact you were doing this with Gladion. He looked to be enjoying Mantine surfing. You didn't think he would. The wave finally gave out and cool water tunnel disappeared behind you. Too bad it couldn't last forever. The Mantine swam you back to back, where Hau was waiting. "Wasn't that the coolest thing?", he smiled. It was cool alright.
