Third Person POV

"Fuck!" Gabe screamed. He stared through the front door praying for her to stop walking up those stairs and come back down to them. To talk to them, to let them explain. But she just kept walking away. How many times had she walked away from them today?

Luke was on the verge of hyperventilating. He had never seen Cupcake look at him with such disappointment. She had tried to hide it, tried to look unaffected, but her eyes gave her away. Not that unaffected would have been any better. He wanted her to care, but he didn't want her to hurt. What had Claire said to her? Claire. He whirled to face Sean. "What did Claire say to her?" He demanded.

Sean started shaking his head immediately. "Nothing. Nothing that I know of. She was their waitress so I'm sure they interacted some, but she didn't know who Pookie was until I got there." He blanched. Was that the right call? He had just wanted Pookie to hear that she had nothing to worry about. That Luke was hers. But thinking about it now, it probably made the whole situation worse. Luke could handle himself, the same way North handled Jade. Plus, by saying what he said, he had done exactly what he had chided Silas about earlier that night. He hung his head. He just listened to his instincts to try and shield her, but it had done the exact opposite. Now, not only was Claire going to target her, the kids she was with had heard me say she was with Luke.

"What did you say Doc?" Luke pleaded.

"Claire greeted me when I walked in. She made a comment that insinuated you and her had a past that she was eager to revisit. She was speaking loud enough for Pookie to hear. Before I even thought it through I said that I was there to pick up your girlfriend for you." Sean rushed through the story and braced himself. He looked over at Silas and tried to relay that he was sorry. Silas just nodded that he understood, but his jaw was tight.

Luke smiled at that. He loved the idea of being able to call her that. He hoped that day came soon. He was close to slipping into a day dream when he heard North moan in frustration. North was glaring at Sean. "And let me guess, not only did Claire immediately guess it was Sang, but Sang's new friends heard you too."  North growled. Sean nodded.

"What a fucking mess. We just can't fucking win can we?" Gabe gritted through his teeth. "Wait, what the fuck was she doing there with them in the first place?" He yelled. North shoved his arm in response to his volume. "Fuck off. This is bullshit. Since when does Claire work there?"

North's entire face darkened. He whipped his phone out and pressed a button before lifting it up to his ear. "Hey. No, I'm fine. Uncle, stop, I have to ask you something. Why was Claire working there tonight? Since when? Shit. Don't you know she is Luke's ex-girlfriend?" North sighed heavily. "Right, well that is going to be a problem. Yes, I understand that, but Sang and Luke aren't going to want to work when she is there." North's hand came up to pinch the top of his nose in frustration. "She already admitted that she is there to get back with Luke. Yes. Alright alright, we will see you tomorrow." North hung up and put his phone back in his pocket. He looked over at Luke with sadness and shook his head.

Luke slumped in defeat. This was not going to go well for any of them. There was a very good reason he stopped seeing Claire a year ago. She was a ton of fun, but she was also a crazy. She was of the opinion that her way was the right way, and she did whatever she had to, to get it. If it hadn't been for a few huge missions that her team were assigned out of town, he probably would have spent the last year trying to escape her. And to make matters worse, if she felt she couldn't get him, she would probably target Gabe or Victor next. "Oh well, all I can do is talk to Sang in the morning and explain who Claire is and that she doesn't matter. Let's go to bed." Luke started walking into Sang's house.
