Sang

I didn't know what to say. Decan's story sounded so much like mine, it was almost hard to believe. If I thought either of them actually knew my history, I might wonder if they made it up. I still didn't really believe my own story. Sighing, I tried to gather enough of my thoughts to say something, but I was at a loss.

"Sang?" Lily said softly. Looking up, I realized they were both studying me. Searching my face, trying to guess my thoughts. I opened my mouth to say something, anything really, but nothing came out. Swallowing, I tried again, but I was still at a loss. I shook my head back and forth slowly, trying to convey how I was feeling, and then just shrugged. That made Decan laugh softly.

"It's a lot, I know," he said, grinning solemnly. I just nodded in agreement. The words that normally came so easily with Decan, just would not come.

"Okay!" Lily said and clapped her hands together, startling me so bad I jumped. She pushed off the arms of her chair until she was standing and placed her hands on her hips. "Let's take a break. You've had a heavy week, and we don't need to get everything done at once. Come in the kitchen to meet my husbands. They are all here today, which almost never happens." She nodded at me, acknowledging an agreement that I hadn't made, and started to walk for the door. My brows shot up my forehead as I turned to Decan. He just laughed at me, got out of his chair, and offered me his hand. I hesitated, so he reached forward, grabbed my hand, and hauled me up to my feet. Huffing, I yanked my hand away and hurried after Lily.

Decan caught up with me before I was out of the room, matching my pace down the hall. Hearing several male voices, I slowed, feeling anxious about meeting more new people. Decan tsked , linked his arm through mine, and pulled me along. Groaning, I gave up and just let him lead me. When he got me through the door to the kitchen, the conversation stopped, and 5 pairs of eyes turned to me. I gulped, my mouth suddenly bone dry. Lily was sitting on a stool, facing the door, leaning back against a large island. She took notice of the fact that Decan was practically dragging me, before starting introductions.

"That guy there is husband number 1. He is the Owen of my team, and is often in the most trouble." She winked, lifted her had to the side of her mouth, fake whispering. "He is the one that met with your team last Sunday." Before anyone could say or do anything besides chuckle, she kept going, pointing at a shorter man that was standing in front of the sink, drying dishes. "That is husband number 3. He is always cranky, and is home the least. Owns a garage in the city that keeps him pretty busy." Husband number 3 started to grumble, but Lily just flapped her hand at him. "He is the most romantic though." She said, grinning devilishly.

"Hey!" Three other men said at the same time. Decan laughed, and I couldn't help but chuckle a little too.

"Oh hush. You know it's true." Lily admonished. Turning to her right she pointed at the man sitting at the other end of the island. He was watching her and I, but he had clearly been working before we came in. He had his laptop in front of him, and papers spread all over the island. "This is husband number 4. He is our tech guy and is afraid of jello...so yea. No jello." The man glared at her, and while I tried to figure out what was scary about jello. There had to be a story there. I shared a 'what the hell' look with Decan, before returning my attention to Lily, who was barely keeping a straight face.

"And lastly," she said with great flourish, and pointed to the last man. He was sitting on the floor in the far corner, back against the wall, petting a huge black dog. How I hadn't noticed the dog before, I don't know, but it was the size of a small. My eyes widened, and I made to take a step back, but Decan held me steady. I wasn't afraid of dogs exactly, I just wasn't around them often, and this one could eat me. "That is my one true love Davi, and his owner. Who also happens to be husband number 2." She nodded, and relaxed back against the island, looking very proud of herself. I was... amused. But also confused. I looked to the man on the floor, than to the man at the sink. Then back to Lily. When no one said anything, I just looked at Decan. Was he helpful? No. No he wasn't. He just smiled pleasantly at me, and waved to everyone else, like he was meeting them for the first time too.
