Chapter 33 - Ula'ula Island Trial Challenge (Part 2)

After everyone has eaten breakfast at a restaurant located nearby the Pokemon Centre at Malie City, Ash, Pikachu, Lucario, Sophocles, Kiawe, Lillie, Mallow, Lana and Professor Kukui made their way through Route 11, 12, 13, Tapu Village, Route 14 and into the Thrifty Megamart (Abandoned Site), to be greeted by Acerola.

"Hello, Professor Kukui and everyone else," greeted Acerola. "What brings you here?"

"Well, we have a challenger here with us to complete your Island Trial Challenge," replied Professor Kukui, gesturing to Ash, who had Pikachu on his shoulder and Lucario standing on his left.

"No way, you must be Ash Ketchum," said Acerola in surprise. "Hala contacted me and told me about you," she continued.

"Did he?" asked Ash. "Well, I did request to him to contact all of the Island Trial Challenge & Grand Trial Captains about me."

"That explains it. Alright, let's go," said Acerola, as she led everyone into the Thrifty Megamart.

Once everyone entered the Thrifty Megamart, Acerola began to explain how her challenge works towards Ash.

"Now that we are inside the Thrifty Megamart, you must explore the surrounding area and take a photo of the Totem Pokemon, which happens to be Mimikyu. The Totem Mimikyu will challenge you to a battle. Once you defeat it and its two ally Pokemon, the challenge is completed. Are you ready?" asked Acerola.

"Ready," replied Ash.

"Then let's begin," Acerola said as Ash took the Vibration Pokemon out of its PokeBall.

A short moment later, Mimikyu appeared, so Ash immediately took a photo of it.

"A Seismitoad, it looks very powerful," commented Lana who has a high interest in Water Type Pokemon.

"Seismitoad, start off with Muddy Water," Ash ordered as Seismitoad released a powerful barrage of brown water towards Mimikyu and scored a direct hit. However, it appeared to have taken no damage.

"That's Mimikyu's ability, Disguise. It allows the first damage-inflicting move used on Mimikyu to do no damage for that turn, but the ability wears off for the rest of the battle," explained Acerola.

"Very useful for itself, but a disadvantage for us," Ash said as Mimikyu struck Seismitoad with Shadow Claw, inflicting a fair amount of damage on the Vibration Pokemon.

A short moment later, the Totem Mimikyu summoned Haunter and temporarily disappeared into the darkness of the Thrifty Megamart. Seconds later, the Totem Haunter opened its mouth while approaching Seismitoad and began to use Lick.

"Counter that with Ice Punch," Ash said as Seismitoad's right hand glowed light blue and directly collided with the lick attack and neither attack gave way to each other.

"Now strike with your left hand," ordered Ash as the Vibration Pokemon's other hand glowed light blue and scored a direct hit on Haunter and knocking it back a few metres.

Momentarily, Haunter's eyes began to glow red and circles of sound waves began to head towards Seismitoad.

"Use Sludge Wave," commanded Ash as the Vibration Pokemon released a wave of purple sludge towards the incoming Night Shade, creating a dust of cloud from the impact.

"Seismitoad, don't move just yet. When Haunter appears from the cloud of dust, attack immediately with Muddy Water," ordered Ash.

A few seconds later, Haunter appeared through the dust of cloud and began using Lick towards Seismitoad.

"Now!" Ash ordered as Seismitoad released an array of brown water towards Haunter and scored a direct hit on the latter, knocking it out.

Momentarily after fainting, the Haunter had recovered and disappeared into the darkness, only to have the ally Gengar appearing in front of Ash and his Pokemon.
