With Ash & Max in Cabin 205:
"So Ash, how does it feel to finally become a regional champion after journeying in seven regions?" asked Max.
"Very satisfying and accomplishing. I learnt a lot when journeying in Alola here. It's quite different compared to the other regions I've traveled in," replied Ash. "Congratulations on winning the Hoenn League."
"Thanks Ash. I'll do my best and make you proud," said Max
"I know you will," said Ash.
In the stadium:
"This will be an official full battle between the trainers Max and Bonnie. Substitutions can be made at any time and the battle will be over when all of either side's Pokemon are unable to battle. Can both trainers please send out their first Pokemon?" requested the referee.
"Golduck, you're up first," said Max as the Duck Pokemon appeared in the battlefield.
"Tyrantrum, I'm starting with you," said Bonnie as the Despot Pokemon appeared on the battlefield.
"Battle begin," said the referee.
"Start off with Dragon Dance," ordered Bonnie as Tyrantrum's body became surrounded with a red aura while dancing, increasing its attack and speed.
"Use Rain Dance," commanded Max as Golduck summoned several dark clouds above the battlefield, and rain began to pour down towards the ground.
"Use Dragon Claw," said Bonnie as Tyrantrum began charging towards Golduck at a high speed while both of its claws extended in side and glowed green.
"Dodge it and use Hydro Pump," ordered Max as Golduck managed to dodge the attack and fire a powerful jet of water at Tyrantrum, scoring a direct hit and dealing effective damage, boosted by Rain Dance.
"How did Golduck manage to easilu dodge the Dragon Claw despite Tyrantrum using Dragon Dance beforehand?" asked Mairin.
"That must mean Max's Golduck's ability is Swift Swim, which doubles the user's speed in rain," answered Alain.
"Hit it with Ice Beam," ordered Max as Golduck opened its mouth and fired a powerful beam of ice towards Tyrantrum.
"Counter with Head Smash," said Bonnie as Tyrantrum's head became surrounded with blue energy and charged towards Golduck.
Unfortunately, the Ice Beam was overpowered by the Head Smash and Golduck was eventually hit the lethal attack, taking severe damage.
"Now finish it with Dragon Claw," said Bonnie as Tyrantrum's claws glowed green while charging towards Golduck.
"Dodge it and hit Tyrantrum with Hydro Pump," ordered Max as Golduck, despite taking heavy damage, managed to avoid the attack on time thanks to its Swift Swim ability as well as landing a hit with Hydro Pump on the Despot Pokemon, knocking it out of action.
"Tyrantrum is unable to battle. Golduck wins," said the referee.
"Return, Tyrantrum. You did an amazing job. Florges, you're up next," said Bonnie as she recalled the Despot Pokemon and sent out the Garden Pokemon into the battlefield.
"Battle begin," said the referee.
"Florges, begin with Light Screen," commanded Bonnie as the Garden Pokemon created a transparent cube-shaped yellow 3D screen of light that surrounded itself, disappearing after a few seconds.
"Use Hydro Pump," ordered Max as Golduck fired a powerful jet of water from its mouth at Florges, dealing normal damage.
"Don't give up. Finish it off with Energy Ball," said Bonnie as Florges managed to recover from being hit by Hydro Pump and fire a green ball of energy at Golduck.
