The next day, after having breakfast, Ash, Pikachu and Lucario decided to head to the one of the battlefields and begin training for the incoming tournament.
Meanwhile with Sawyer:
While Sawyer was also heading down to one of the battlefields, he heard a powerful explosion that was a long distance away from him.
"Wonder who that is training over there," Sawyer thought to himself.
A few seconds later, he decided to have a look and went towards where the explosion had came from and after about a minute or two, he arrived at the battlefield, which had a Swellow and Staraptor that were in mid-air. He also noticed the cloaked figure from yesterday with Pikachu and Lucario.
"Well done, Swellow and Staraptor. Now that's exactly what I want to see when I use you in the tournament. Take a rest for now," said the cloaked figure as the Swallow & Predator Pokemon flew onto the cloaked figure's shoulder.
"Wow, the bond between the cloaked figure and his Pokemon is really remarkable," Sawyer thought to himself and he came to a decision.
With the cloaked figure:
The cloaked figure was drinking a bottle of water and Pikachu, Lucario, Swellow and Staraptor were taking a rest when a dark green-haired figure nervously approached them.
"Umm, Red...?" asked Sawyer tentatively.
"Yes?" asked the cloaked figure.
"Is it okay if I battle you. I know you're a very powerful trainer, but I would like to test my strengths and skills against you," replied Sawyer.
"Hmm... My brother told me about you, Sawyer, and he spoke very highly of you as a trainer and possessing remarkable battling skills. Alright, I accept your request," said the cloaked figure.
"Really? Thank you, Red," said Sawyer gratefully.
"No problem. Which battle mode would you like to use?" asked the cloaked figure.
"A double battle," answered Sawyer.
"Fair enough. It's been a long while since I had a double battle," said the cloaked figure. "Return, Swellow and Staraptor," he said as the Swallow and Predator Pokemon were recalled back into their PokeBalls.
"Alright, Charizard & Garchomp, let's go," he said as the Flame & Mach Pokemon appeared on the battlefield.
"So is this the Garchomp that Serena told me which defeated one of the traitor's Dragonite?" asked Sawyer.
"Indeed it is the one that Serena was talking about. Now show me what you've got," replied the cloaked figure.
"As you wish. Sceptile & Salamence, come on out," said Sawyer as the Forest & Dragon Pokemon appeared on the battlefield.
"Sawyer, one last thing before we battle," said the cloaked figure.
"Yes?" inquired Sawyer.
"I may appear to be a mysterious and scary figure to you, but don't feel nervous or overwhelmed. I know that you're an amazing trainer and I would like you to overcome your fear and focus on how you enjoy battling, so hit me with your best shot," advised the cloaked figure.
"Got it," said Sawyer who began smiling. "Sceptile, use Leaf Blade on Garchomp and Salamence, use Dragon Claw on Charizard," said Sawyer as both Pokemon began charging towards their targets while preparing for their attacks.
"Charizard, use Air Slash on Salamence and Garchomp, take the attack then use Hone Claws," said the cloaked figure as Charizard flapped its wings and fired several sharp slashes of air at Salamence, scoring a direct hit and damaging the Dragon Pokemon while Garchomp directly took the Leaf Blade attack and took some damage but repeatedly rubbed its claws afterwards, increasing its attack and accuracy.
