"Mommy!" Zuri screamed as Karis walked into Big Mama's house.

Karis smiled. "Hey, pumpkin!" She said as she picked Zuri up and kissed her cheek. "Hey, everybody!"

"Where's Taylor?" Arman teased, making everyone shush him.

Karis rolled her eyes. "Those King children love to talk, huh?"

"Girl, you know they do." Cynthia said.

"So when can we meet him?" Arman continued.

"Never, fool." Karis replied as she sat down on the couch next to Dear with Zuri still in her arms.

"Why not?" Dear asked her.

"It's never gonna get that serious. It's just something fun." Karis told her.

"It was just fun with Amaru and Heather now look at them." Mya chimed in.

"Y'all are getting ahead of yourselves." Karis said. "It's just something fun!"

"Alright something fun." Big Mama teased. "Somebody call Killian and Micah to see where they at with the ice. It's almost time to eat."

"I'll call—never mind." Lennox said once they heard Killian and Micah arguing back and forth.

"Hey! What's up with the bickering?!" Amaru fussed.

"This fool dropped one of the bags of ice on our way out the store. That's why it took us so long." Killian said. "I'm taking Jaxon with me next time."

"Boy, I oughta—"

"You better not!" Heather shouted when she saw Micah preparing to hit Killian with the bag of ice in his hand. "Go put that ice in the freezer now!" Micah sucked his teeth and did as told.

Big Mama shook her head as she slowly stood up. "C'mon, y'all. Let's go eat this food."

"Okay, girl. We are done." Karis said as she sprayed hairspray on the closure sew in of her fourth client of the next day.

"Yes ma'am!" The client exclaimed as she looked in the mirror. "This is why I'm forever loyal to you!"

Karis smiled. "I'm glad you like it!"

"Like it? Girl, I love it!" The client said as she reached into her purse for the cash. Karis charges $150 for her closure sew ins but the client gave her $200. "Thank you so much, baby. I'll see you in a few weeks."

"No, thank you! Tell my favorite English teacher I said hello." Karis told the client, referring to her husband.

The woman chuckled. "I will. See you later, baby doll." With that, she walked out of Karis' suite.

After Karis cleaned up and sanitized, she sat down in the salon chair to see who was her last appointment. "Men's haircut and beard trim." She mumbled. "Taylor?"

"Knock knock. Am I too early?" Someone said at her door.

Karis looked over and saw Taylor standing there with a dozen of roses. She couldn't help the smile that spread across her face. "Well, what a surprise. You definitely got lucky with booking this appointment."

Taylor chuckled. "I wanted to disguise myself and book for box braids, but you had no time for them."

Karis laughed as well. "And you would have been in trouble." She said. "Are those for me?"

"Of course they are." Taylor said as he fully stepped into the suite.

"Thank you. I love them." She replied, taking them from him. "Make yourself comfortable."
