Karis took a deep breath as she knocked on the door. Killian and Taylor stood behind her as if they were her guard dogs. Karis decided to reach out to Zareek and asked him for their parents' address. It was still the same, and being here brought back flashbacks to her childhood.
Lamont, Karis' father opened the door and he immediately had a face of shock. "Karis? What are you doing here?" He asked.
"I came to get closure." Karis replied.
Lamont scoffed. "I don't know why."
"Well, I thought that we could—"
"Then you brought Killian to my fucking house?" Lamont questioned.
"Fuck you, nigga. I oughta beat yo ass." Killian chimed in. "C'mon, Karis—before I kill his bitch ass."
Karis began to cry as she allowed Killian to walk her to his truck. Taylor acted as if he was about to follow behind them, but he turned around and began to throw multiple punches at Lamont's face. Lamont fell to the floor and Taylor started to stomp on him.
"Taylor, no!" Karis yelled as she tried to get to him. "Stop it, Taylor! Stop!"
"Shit." Killian mumbled as he went up the porch steps and grabbed Taylor. "C'mon, man. Karis is upset. That's enough—he got it."
Taylor snapped out of it and stepped away from Lamont. Lamont's face was bruised and almost swollen, and his body was bruised as well. Taylor spat on Lamont before closing his front door and walked over to Karis who was crying.
"I'm sorry for making you upset, but I'm not sorry for defending you. Fuck him." Taylor told her truthfully.
"And y'all were worried about me." Killian chuckled.
"What if you go to jail, Taylor?" Karis cried. "He has a fucking camera."
"We good. Let's go before somebody pops up." Taylor assured her.
Karis couldn't help but worry as they walked to Killian's car. Taylor was familiar with cameras and all of the local installation companies. The specific camera Lamont had was one Taylor was familiar with and the red light that was flashing indicated that the camera was off. He analyzed everything around them before he attacked.
"That went worse than expected." Karis said.
"I know that you don't want to hear this, but I told you." Killian said. "You always want to see the good in folks, but let's face it—if that nigga was sorry about how he treated you then he would've tried to contact you a long time ago. Fuck him, aight?"
Karis nodded as she wiped her face. "I know. You were right."
"On the bright side—Taylor gave him a good Samoan ass kicking." Killian joked, making them laugh.
"I might need to call Kennedi or Chocolate. I punched him in the jaw and it dislocated my right ring finger." Taylor said.
"Shit, we'll put Chocolate to the test." Killian replied.
They went to Amaru and Heather's house where Heather and Lennox were watching Jonah and Zuri. They walked into the house and Killian went over to Jonah who was on his play mat on the floor enjoying tummy time. Zuri was in Amaru and Heather's room taking a nap.
"Hey big boy." Killian said as he kissed Jonah's cheek.
"How did everything go?" Heather asked. "Y'all are back sooner than expected."
"Let's just say Chocolate needs to pop Taylor's finger back in place." Killian said as he continued to show Jonah attention, making him smile.
Heather gasped as Lennox went to look at Taylor's finger. "Y'all fought?"
