"Dude, look away she's like a bear if you don't make eye contact she won't come over here." Mae eyes me.
"With the sports bra you're wearing, she's going to come over here whether you like it or not," she jokes. I quickly ducked my head when I felt a blush creep up. Mr. Aiden blew his whistle and made us all get in a straight line as he took roll call.
"HART!," he yelled. I looked over.
"Yes sir." He pointed at the shed where we kept our equipment.
"Get the footballs and the flags." I nodded my head and started jogging my way over to the shed. While on my way I saw a flash of blonde hair walking through the halls. It was Ms. James. She was walking with a stack of books that looked really heavy and as if they were about to fall. As I thought the books did fall and I ran towards her instead of the shed. I knelt down and helped her pick them up.
"Here Ms. let me help you." She picked up a few books and I grabbed the rest. When she looked up at me she smiled.
"Thank you. I guess this makes up for being late to my class doesn't it," she laughed as a book fell from her stack again. I picked it up and grabbed the rest of the books form her arms.
"I'll help you take these where you need them." She smiles.
"Not that I don't appreciate you asking but, don't you have to be in class?," she asked. I looked back at Mr. Aiden. He had sent someone else to get the equipment. I turned back to her and got a better grip on the slipping books.
"I do but, you look like you need some help here with these books. I'll take my punishment when I get back to class, I don't mind."
"Well, in that case thank you. Although I'd preferyou not to be punished," she began walking. " Just follow me and I'll have you back in class in no time." I followed her and we walked in silence. She came to a sudden stop and unlocked a door holding it open for me.
"Thank you," I said. Shaking her head she let the door close behind her as she walked in.
"No, thank you. I don't think I would've been able to get this far without your help." At that moment she looked at me and I saw her eyes travel up and down. "Crap I'm still in only my sports bra and shorts." I felt my face heat up and we met eyes. She had a small blush as well when she began to speak.
"Wow, uh- ahem y-you seem to be in good shape. I see now that I pulled you out of PE, I hope you don't get a bad punishment." She began looking around at anything and everything except for me. I smiled at her when she finally looked at me.
"Don't worry my punishment might just be running extra nothing too bad," I reassured her. Her eyes widened.
"What do you mean nothing too bad, I hate running," she laughed. " Let me write you a note. Um, I seem to have forgotten my sticky notes." Her face grew red and I simply told her it would be ok and that I'm glad I got to help her out. After we walked out of the classroom, we both made our way back from where we came.
"I'll see you later Ms. James I think I have you twice in one day," I said as I started jogging off.
"Wait." I heard her say. I stopped running and turned around.
"I actually have a free period right now, I'll come along with you and watch your class play football. Together we started walking towards the class. When we got there Ms. James took a seat on the bleachers and Mr. Aiden pulled me aside.
"I'd say you have to run extra but, I saw you helping another teacher so your off the hook." I smiled and chose a side. The whistle blew and I started running to the end zone weaving by people to make a good catch. I started waving my arms.
"Over here Bryan, I'm open." He turned to me and I saw a few other people running towards me. Bryan threw the ball in a direction close to be but far enough I had to make a running catch. The few other people were still on my tail as the ball came closer and as I made the catch someone came ramming into me. I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder as I was knocked onto the ground.
"HART!" I heard Mr. Aiden yell. I didn't last long on the ground. I got back up with the ball in my hands. I turned to look at who tackled me. I glared in the direction of the only other person standing up. By this time Ms. James was also on the field walking towards me.
"WHAT THE HELL AMY, IT'S FLAG FOOTBALL NOT TACKLE FOOTBALL!," I yelled stepping closer to her. Amy was a queen B and she hated me because she felt threatened by me. She always thought I was out to steal her boyfriends when HELLO I'm gay. I was about to get in her face when I felt a calm hand on my shoulder. I have to admit that sent pain through my shoulder. I hissed a little and the hand quickly retracted. It was Ms. James, worry in her eyes.
"Sandra let's get you to the nurse you took a bad fall," she said grabbing my arm instead. I let her pull me away and everyone was left in shock. That was until Mae broke the silence.
"Please someone tell me they saw that amazing catch she made." Everyone started cheering as I walked away. "You gotta love Mae." I thought. Ms. James came to a stop. I turned to look a her with a questioning glance.
"Are you ok?, You took a pretty nasty fall." I nodded.
"Yeah I'm ok, I just can't move it a bit but it's fine." She reached for my shoulder and tried to move it slowly. When I groaned in pain she stopped.
"You dislocated it, we're going to have to pop it back into place in the nurse's office." We continued walking until we made it to the office. There we were met with Mrs.Osborne the school nurse who led me into the check-up area. Ms. James asked if she was allowed to come with me and was told she could. Mrs.Osborne examined my shoulder a bit until she looked me in the eye.
"Sweetie I say you grab a hold of something, usually when you pop a shoulder back into place it hurts like hell." I looked around for something to grab until Ms. James came up besides me. She extended her hand towards me.
"Squeeze my hand until the pain goes away." I shook my head.
"I don't want to hurt you." She smiled.
"Just squeeze my hand and don't be a sissy." I was taken aback by what she said but I smiled and took her hand.
