We spent the next few moments catching Chris up to speed. She was uneasy at first but she came to be ok with it. Lauren looked at me again.
"Now I have a question, Mae and Sandra you too have a long history and I don't want any lies." We looked at each other. "Why is Kalie keeping an eye on you?" I turned to Mae and we had a mental conversation with glances. Lauren cleared her throat and I put my head down like a kid caught doing a misdeed.
"Lauren, you're not the first teacher I've dated." The shock on her face was more than enough for me. "Kalie and I were together before I came here, she was too jealous and I ended it with her." Lauren nods slowly. I take her hand and she stiffens but relaxes when I start drawing little circles on her palm.
"I HAVE A PICTURE IN MY HEAD GUYS," everyone looked at Mae.
"A what?" Chris asked.
"An idea, she has an idea," Kara answered.
"The fact that you know that means you've been spending too much time together," I say.
"What's your idea Mae," Lauren asks. Mae smirks.
"We sneak into Kalies house and find out what she knows about Sandra so far."
"Mae that's a terrible idea, I mean how do we even get her address," I say.
"George keeps all the faculty members addresses in a file cabinet in his office. I can get you guys into the teachers lounge but I don't have the key to his office." She said holding up her key. Kara smiled.
"Don't worry about his office I can get us in just lend us your key and we'll be in and out." No one questioned her as I reached for the key.
"Guys we have a little problem,"Chris said pointing at the carrier. "Whose staying with her?" I look at the carrier and smile to myself, she's so cute.
"You and Lauren stay here we'll go get the investigation going, meanwhile you figure out what to do with her." They nodded and I grabbed my keys. To the school.
"It's saturday are the school gates even open right now."
"We can just jump them," Mae suggested. We started a three way call after we jumped the fences. Kara went into the school while Mae and I stood guards at opposite ends. Kara was right when she said she'd be in and out because not even ten minutes later we were looking into Kalie's file.
"Kara how'd you get into the Principles office anyways?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders cooly.
"When you leave your keys in your house a lot you pick up a few lock picking skills." I nodded slowly as we pulled up four houses down from Kalies.
"Alright this is it," we got out and discreetly went through the back. "Kara can you get this door open without making a noise?" she nodded and I stepped back. No longer than a few seconds and the door swung open. No one appeared to be home and we made our way in.
"You've got to show me how to do that," Whispered Mae. Quietly we made our way upstairs to what seemed to be her room. The walls were a smooth red and the outer lay out was white. When we entered the room I couldn't believe my eyes.
"You know my mom once told me if I didn't have anything nice to say I shouldn't say anything at all.....But my mom's not here and this place is a total WRECK." she said throwing her hands in the air. We looked around the room for a long time and eventually found a notebook. Suddenly the front door opened and shut.
"Shit, shit, shit. You two go hide and take this with you," I handed them the notebook. "I'll distract her." The door swung open and I sat on the bed calmly even though my heart was racing at 100 beats per minute. She looked at me.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"I could ask you the same thing," Her head tilted.
"I live here," She said crossing her arms.
"I should ask you a different question," I said laughing breathlessly.
MAE'S POV*****
Sandra distracted Kalie and lead her down stairs. Slowly Kara and I opened the closet door and tried to find a way out.
"We could always climb out the window," I suggested. Without further thought we climbed out the window but now we had to figure out how to get down safely with no broken bones. I looked around and saw that the neighbors had a pool that wasn't too far from the ledge. We could make that jump. I hope.
"Any more good ideas Mae?" Kara asked sarcastically. I looked at her.
"Just one and it's a long shot, we have to be quick," She furrowed her brows at me and I motioned towards the pool. She began shaking her head rapidly.
"No way I'm not jumping from here, plus the notebook would get wet." I took the notebook, one way or another I was going to get her to jump. I decided to throw the notebook over the fence and onto the cement near the pool.
"There, now we HAVE to go get it," She glared at me. "Come on take my hand, and I'll count to three."
"Ok fine." she said taking my hand.Feeling the splash of the water was a huge sense of relief. Then Kara came up for air. I felt a big smack on the back of my head. "What the fuck happened to three?" I looked at her.
"Three," was all I said before getting out of the pool and offering her a hand. She took it with an extremely strong grip. When she let go I swear I felt my hand pulsing with relief. We grabbed the notebook and booked it before the neighbors cam out to see what the noise was if they were even home at the moment, and took shelter behind a car a few houses down from Kalies.
"I really hope Sandra was able to get out of there."
"What are you two doing?" Kara and I jumped at the sudden question and turned around. It was only Sandra, I felt myself relaxing.
"How did you find us?" she laughed and looked down.
"I followed the wet foot prints," her brows furrowed together. "Why are you two drenched anyways?" Kara gave me a glare and walked to the car. Sandra lifted a brow at me watching Kara walk away.
"Don't ask" I said lifting a hand and following Kara to the car.
