"Yes, she's all our's" We smiled at her and I saw Mae take Chris' hand. We took a seat on the couch and not much later Lauren was down to the final paper.

"Ok ladies, it's time for the baby's name."

"Lauren you can choose her name," Mae said while she smiled at her. Everyone agreed. Lauren thought for a few minutes before deciding. Lauren was about to speak when Mae threw her hands in the air.

"WAIT I HAVE TO PEE," She ran off. We all looked at each other but waited. Mae rushed back as fast as she could and nodded at Lauren. "Ok continue." Lauren smiled at her before turning to me.

"I want to name her Erin,"She said as she looked at me deeply. At first I didn't understand but then it hit me like a truck and I couldn't help but walk into her arms and hug her. Breanna smiled at the name.

"Erin James," she said aloud while writing it down. Breanna looked at Lauren and I "Does the name Erin hold a significance?" I looked at her.

"It's my mother's name." Lauren put a hand on her shoulder.

"Can it be Erin James Hart?" Breanna tilted her head. I raised my hand to show her the ring. A smile ran across her face.

"Oh you two got engaged. How exiting, whens the big day?" I smiled at her.

"We haven't planned yet we've been putting our attention on the arrival of the baby."

"Well I'm sure we can add Hart to the mix Lauren," she mentioned. Mae reached into the carrier and poked the baby.

"Hey there Erin, welcome to the dysfunctional family." Kara smacked the back of her head secretly. "I told you it was dysfunctional," she whispered. Breanna stood and we all thanked her for her help, soon she left and it was us with the baby. A few days earlier Mae and Lauren had gone out baby shopping and picked up a crib, and baby necessities. We chose to go out all together to the park. It didn't take us long before we all sat on the grass looking at the sky with Erin. Mae turned to her.

"You know kid this is where we made the final decision about you." Erin rolled and put her tiny hands on Mae's face. Mae started playing fighting her and let Erin fake kill her. "Just because you won I'll get you a million toys." Erin made a small noise with glee. "What's that Erin, you want a billion toys?" Mae laughed "Sorry to tell you kid but it seems unrealistic she said as took Erin with her to the swings.

"Who knew Mae had a way with kids," Chris whispers to me. I smile and look at her before making a motion to go somewhere private. Lauren and Kara sat up.

"Where you guys going?"

"Coffee run," was all I said before dragging Chris with me. We sat in the car for a bit before she turned to me.

"Sandra did you drag me here for coffee or something else?"

"I need to tell you something about Mae, and well now we actually have to make a coffee run." She nodded at me and waited for me to continue. "Mae doesn't talk about this, ever. Hopefully one day she'll come out to you enough to say it. I shouldn't be saying this but I just want to make sure you don't say something that makes her sad."

"Sandra, what happened?"

"When Mae was younger her mom had a baby. A girl her name was Jacey. She made it to her third birthday, Mae and I were 13. The thing about Jacey was that she had a condition where she wasn't supposed to make it to her first birthday. Mae thought that since she passed her first birthday she'd live on, Mae got attached like any sister would but Jacey didn't live to see her fourth birthday. Her death nearly destroyed Mae. It destroyed her parents, they couldn't see past it. They couldn't see Mae anymore. She grew up being neglected these past years, she wants to save the babies, she wants to pass love to kids like the love she wasn't given." Christen and I sat in the silence for a little while. She took a breath and let out a deep sigh.

"Woah," she bought her hands to her face for a while before looking out the window. I put my hand on her knee.

"Let's go make that coffee run," she nodded and I started the car.

We got the coffee and took it back to where we'd left the girls. It'd gotten a bit chilly by then and Mae sat in the grass holding Erin wrapped in a blanket. Lauren and Kara were chatting away until their eyes landed on us. We handed them their coffee and Chris went to take a spot next to Mae. The three of us watched them play with Erin and tickle her.

"Well damn, who knew Chris would end up dating Mae?" I said.

"It's looong over due but pay up Lauren," Kara said sticking her hand out. Lauren placed a twenty in her hand.

"I thought you'd forgotten."

"I had," Kara says placing the bill in her pocket. Mae runs up to us.

"Lets go to the store, I want some chips." We all look at her but agree all of us wanting snacks too. We got off at the market and sat Erin in a cart. Mae skipped over to the chips and stood at the entrance of the aisle.

"Mae why'd you st-" I turned to see a little boy crying. I looked back at Christen then the others. Mae started getting closer before turning to us. She rose her arms as to ask us what to do. She got closer to the kid and I turned to see Christen intently watching to see how Mae would comfort the child.

"Hey there little guy," she said before kneeling down in front of him and setting her hand on his shoulder. "Can you please scoot over a little you're blocking the Hot Cheetos." A tall woman showed up and called for the child.

"Marcus!" She said relieved. She walked towards them and looked at Mae before grabbing her child. "Thank you so much for being with him," She said carrying him. Mae looked from the unblocked chips to the woman.

"No, thank you." The woman left with her child and Kara walked up to Mae. She smacked the back of her head.

"You just created a new level of you didn't think this through type of stupid," she said. I turned to Chris.

"She's Mae, she can't be cute with kids all the time." She nodded at me and Mae came towards us with bags of chips. The ride was full of laughter and baby noises. After walking in we took the blanket off Erin and saw how dirty she had actually gotten. I looked at Mae.

"We had some fun in the dirt okay," She laughed covering up the mud stain on her T-shirt. Erin's little face was sticky and had tiny brown spots from the small tastes of coffee we'd let her taste. I smiled at her before kissing her head.

"Lets go bathe her and get her out of those clothes," I said grabbing Erin from her carrier. Mae ran upstairs to warm up the water. We all piled into the bathroom to see her first bath with us and Kara snapped a picture. She looked adorable with a blob of bubbles on her head.

"I'm just going to say....this baby is prettier than me and that's final." Mae joked from the door frame she leaned against with a smile.

"Shush up and go get her clothes," Lauren said grabbing Erin and wrapping her in a teddy bear towel. We walked into our room and laid her on the bed. Lauren put her diaper on, before asking Mae for the clothes. She was handed a small duck onesie. "Mae I thought I told you not to get so much duck stuff." Mae made a face.

"I couldn't help myself. Plus look how cute she looks with the little ducky butt," She said playing with Erin's tiny feet. Lauren caved.

"Yeah you're right," She said carrying Erin and kissing her forehead. The baby put her head down on Lauren's shoulder and stared at me with her big blue grey eyes.

"My god babies have great lashes," I said. Lauren sat on the bed and we all gathered around.

"Now she's going to have a family of people who want her"

"She won't kill any of us."

"She'll never be alone."

"We won't die on her."

"We'll be there." We all took a moment to say something. We are going to love the heck out of this baby.
