I wanted to believe that Lauren wouldn't just up and leave us behind. She's too good of a person.
"Ok guys lets just give her up to two days. If she doesn't come back then we can panic." The girls nodded and I had to give a little more convincing towards Sandra but she then reluctantly agreed. Two days went by slowly and we didn't hear anything from Lauren.
"It's time to panic guys," I said from the kitchen table. None of us had been able to get enough sleep, we took shifts by the phone in case Lauren called.
"I'm just going to suggest once again, that she might not even be in the state," Kara said. I looked at Chris and the same realization came into our head.
"Well what if she's not," I said. They looked at me expectantly. "She's hurt, where would Lauren go?" I asked looking at Sandra. She shook her head.
"I don't know. Maybe I don't know her as well as I though I did."
"Where did Lauren say she was from?"
"Colorado," Chris answered. "What are you thinking Mae?"
"I'm thinking maybe she went to Colorado, but where in Colorado is she from," I said.
"That she actually didn't mention," Kara said defeated. We all though for a few minutes, but couldn't find a way to locate where Lauren would of run off to.
"The school, lets go get her file like we did that time with Kalie's," I smiled.
"Sandra, you're a genius," I said kissing her forehead. "Are you sure you're up to come with us?" She stood up and nodded her head.
"It's my fault. She may not want to see me when we find her but I still have to fix what I broke." She ran upstairs to grab her passport then we did the same while she waited in the car. Chris handed me mine but stopped me in the doorway.
"Are we really going to Colorado?" I took a breath before nodding my head.
"We are, now come on." We drove as fast as we could to the school. It looked abandoned which was a good sign. Kara went herself since she was more of an expert and breaking in than the rest of us. We didn't wait long, she jumped back into the car with Lauren's file and opened it as we hit the road for Seattle. Chris was on her phone checking last nights flights to Colorado.
"Damn it, the schedule says there was a flight two days ago at 5 am. I'm guessing she might've taken it."
"Is there one now?" I asked. Chris scrolled through her phone."There's one at 4 in the afternoon so we're going to have to wait two hours, all of us together is $800."
"Ok so $200 for each that's good, whatever it takes to get us to Colorado." I nodded from the passenger seat.
"Kara any luck with her home town?" Chris asked looking at her. Kara stuck a finger up for time.
"Yes, it says here she's from Greeley." I furrowed my brows.
"Greeley?" I asked. Kara nodded her head. "Weird name."
We got to the airport quick and spent the next few hours waiting for our flight to arrive and when it did we quickly piled into the plane. None of us were next to each other because we bought the tickets so late but as long as we got to Colorado we'd be fine. Few hours later we were in the Denver airport calling a cab. The ride was about an hour long and before we knew it we were dropped off at a small motel.
"Ok what do we do, where do we start?" Sandra asked.
"This seems like a small enough town that people will know each other let's go find a diner, get some food and then ask around," Christen suggested. We did as she suggested and found 'Doug's Diner'. We rented a car and off to the diner we went. After ordering we started thinking of places Lauren might be, that is if she even was in Colorado.
