"What are you doing?" asked Lauren. I looked at all of them.

"It's better only two of us go, Mae come on." She nodded and hopped out of the car.

"Why only two of us?" she asked as we reached the bottom of the stairs leading to the entrance.

"Because Kara is new we can't have her in problems, and the other two are old enough that they could get in actual trouble if something goes wrong," she nodded and smiled at me.

"This means we are LITERALLY partners in crime." I shook my head and opened the door to the police station.

I looked around, it seemed very calm except for the constant phone call sounds and doors opening or closing. We walked up to a sun kissed woman at the front desk. She had glasses sitting on the bridge of her nose and long, wavy ombre hair. She looked up at us. Something hit me when she looked up, she looks so familiar.

"Hey can I help you?" she smiled.

"Yeah," I said while raising the carrier and placing it o the counter. She was shocked but immediately got up to inspect it. Pulling back the small blanket we placed over it she met the dark blue eyes of the baby, before looking back up at us.

"You can follow me into a conference room," she said opening the small door besides her allowing us to follow. We went down a narrow hallway before we came to a stop. She opened the door for us and set up two chairs. "Ok now tell me, how and when did you find her?" I looked to Mae before answering.

"We were walking up past Blake's Cream to get to the coffee shop and heard some noises. We decided to check what it was and found her on the ground in her little carrier. There was no one around and we decided to take her home and decide what to do. We fed her and let her sleep before bringing her over." The entire time the woman sat quietly writing in her notebook.

"You didn't bring her in right after you found her, why?" she looked me deep in the eyes. familiar why are you so familiar to me?

"It's a baby, she was in a terrible condition being left all alone. I figured fix her up a little, make her comfortable before bringing her so she wouldn't be fussy." She nodded.

"Ok, I'm going to go get the system checked for missing children, have the officer in charge come in here I'll fill him in and hopefully have a solution for her. You did the right thing, thank you."

"I'm sorry I just have to ask, have we met, you just look so familiar to me?"

"Sorry, I don't think we've ever met," with that she smiled and left us in the room alone.

"What was that about?" asked Mae.

"I just have the strangest feeling I've seen her before." Mae looked at me with a sad expression while reaching into the carrier to touch the baby's hand. She was wide awake now and looked absolutely adorable.

'Why that face?" I asked her.

"I kinda wanted to keep her," I closed my eyes and sighed.

"Mae we're about to graduate high school, it'd be crazy for us to keep a child. Plus it's too much time we'd have to take off, expensive, and not to mention how we're going to go to college while having to raise her. This isn't like having a dog Mae, this is a child." I felt bad having to shut her down but we needed to be realistic right now. She nodded slowly. My phone rang.

"Hey babe, hows it going in there?" I brought a hand to my face, and ran it through my hair.

"It's going good so far if you guys want to go home I left the keys, you can come get us later."

"No, it's ok we can wait. We're all anxious." The door opened and a tall muscular man stepped in.

"I'm sorry babe I have to go." I hung up.

"Hello I'm head officer Mark Stier," he said offering me his hand. I shook it.

"I'm Sandra Hart, this is my friend Mae Diaz," I said motioning to Mae with my head. She was still playing with the baby.

"May I?" he said. Mae looked up and smiled before turning the carrier to face him. He inspected it too. "Did you two see anything unusual when and where you found her?" We shook our heads.

"Honestly it was just her crying behind a dumpster," Mae said. He looked down at her sweatshirt.

"You two go to Trenton High?" Mae looked at me.

"Yes sir how'd you know?"

"The logo on your friends sweatshirt here," he said pointing. "You know Hunter's sister is a TA there." I looked at him questioningly.

"Whose Hunter," he laughed.

"I'm sorry, Officer Grayson. She's the one you two came to at the front desk.Pardon her she's new here probably forgot to mention her name" It was at that moment I realized the police station was a mistake. We shouldn't have come here. "Well, I'll be right back." He left.

"Dude," Mae shook me. "You're freaking pale are you ok." I grabbed my phone and called Lauren.

"Hello," I didn't waste time.

"Hey babe no time to explain take the car home and when it's time for us to get out of here send Kara to pick us up. Not you or Chris send Kara I'll explain everything later," I could hear the background noise as she was doing what I said. God I love that she doesn't question me.

"Promise you'll explain im kinda freaked the hell out now."

"Babe I swear, I love you bye."

"I love you." When the call ended I realized, that was the first time we've ever said I love you to each other. She said it back, that thought alone gave me butterflies and I began to smile.

"Are young to sit there looking creepy or are you going to explain to me why you made me piss myself a little? WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?"

"He said officer Grayson, the new officer." She looked at me.

"Yeah so?" I smacked her. "Oow what the heck?"

"You dumbass, while I was dating Kalie she lived with her sister. I bet you they moved here together and if I'm correct the reason she looked so familiar to me was because she resembled Kalie." Mae stood in shock.
