Mason stands at the hill overlooking the estate and eyes the damage to his old home. He sits on the hill and thinks to himself as he eyes the dried up and dying lawn.  He stays there but hears the sound of walkers behind him and grips his knife. Mason goes to turn but is knocked down the hall and falls on his back. He moves but hears a voice from above and he turns eyeing the girl covered in blood and a walker skin mask. Mason turns his head eyeing the girl over as she stands on the hill looking down at Mason and he asks unsure.

"Lydia?"

Lydia stands there staring her brother in law over but turns and walks away. Mason goes to get up but falls to the ground hard feeling the pain in his ankle. He glances up eyeing the walkers roaming the courtyard and attempts to get to his feet but again falls. Mason brings his leg up holding it as he checks his ankle and whispers to himself.

"sprained..."

He eyes the walkers and turns back trying to crawl up the hill but falls back down as the walkers attention turns to him. Two walkers begin making their way towards him and he reaches down gripping his knife. Mason crawls back placing his back to the hill and eyes the walker as it steps closer to him. He crawls forward taking the walkers leg out but hesitates feeling the pain in his ankle but pushes forward landing on top of the walker. Mason falls forward making eye constant with the walker but pushes up driving his knife into the walkers skull. He attempts to pull out the knife but its stuck to deep and he turns back hearing a loud groan behind him. Mason pushes back kicking the walker and it falls down as he feels for his gun noticing it is missing. He curses to himself and stares the walker down as it crawls forward inching its way towards him. Again mason kicks it back but it grips his leg but a loud shot fires and the walker lays still on the ground. Mason looks up eyeing the direction of the shot and notices it came from inside the estate. He pushes himself to his feet and curses as he notices another walker shot in front of him and watches it fall to the ground.

Mason limps tot he walker and uses his strength to pull out his knife eyes the walkers one by one shot as he eyes the path to the door. He walks slowly eyeing some walkers standing by and noticing a few watching him as one points to the door and he stops for a second and hears a whisper.

"go..."

Mason walks forward to the open door and eyes the bloody scenes in the entrance hall. the bodies of walkers lay dead as he slowly steps over them and stops eyeing a whisperer sitting casually on the steps. He stands there and the whisperer points up the stairs as he nods to mason.

"go..."

Mason walks pass the whisperer who sits there still staring off into space lost in his own mind. As mason gets to the top of the stairs he stands there still eyeing the bodies of walkers piled in the hallway and turns taking one last look at his home. He turns down a hall and walks slowly eyeing two whisperers sitting outside a door eating some food. Mason comes to a stop and one of the whisperers glances up and motions to the door.

"he's been waiting..."

Mason pushes the door open and walks in slowly eyeing his step brother sitting down in a chair staring out at the dead lawn as Aston begins talking.

"it, it used to be green"

Aston stays still but Mason stops eyeing two dead walkers to his right and stares at the back of his brothers head as he replies.

"it can be green again"

Aston gets up from the chair and turns facing Mason as he laughs to himself.

"can it, do you really think it can, after all this?"

Mason stares his young brother down and Aston walks up to him rolling up his sleeve and Mason eyes the large bite in his arm. Aston laughs to himself as he finds another chair and takes a seat in it.

"only the strong survive, but it ain't true, at the end Mason, we are all weak"

Aston rolls back down his sleeve and stares forward thinking to himself as he glances up to his brother.

"I don't want to wait for it, the pain and suffering..."

Mason watches his younger brother get up and stares him down as he stands still raising his hand in a salute as he states.

"it was a honor, while it lasted Mace being your brother"

Aston stares his older brother over and states firmly.

"that;s what we are, brothers, we don't need blood, we lived and we fought and this is home"

Mason goes to speak and Aston looks him over.

"don't, no more words, its done"

Aston removes a dog tag and places it in his brothers hand as he whispers.

"all i ask is the next time you see your best friend, you jab a knife right through his fucking skull"

Mason looks down at the dog tags and watches Aston walk over to the desk and grab a hand gun off of it. He eyes it over, examining the hand gun in its bright silver form and eyes the markings on it as he stats.

"you'll probably need this back when i am done"

Aston kneels in front of his brother, placing the gun to his jaw and Mason places out his hand resting it on his younger brothers shoulder as Aston whispers as he pulls back on the trigger.

"family first..."

Mason stands still eyeing a few whisperers digging  a whole in the dried up grass and hears one of the men behind him.

"he overtook our camp so quickly that a lot of us had no choice, but to surrender, everyone else died that day. We followed him out of fear, but we stayed out of respect."

A few whisperers life the body covered in a blanket and slowly place it in a hole as Mason stares on and the man asks him.

"he said his name was Aston reid"

Mason interrupts the man.

"he wasn't a reid, he was weak"

The whisperer glares at Mason as mason glances but with a grin.

"you see a reid would have cut off his own arm to live, but Aston was a coward and accepted death. That is weak..."

Mason glares to the whisperer and motions to the others.

"bury him deep, very deep ,i want to forget..."

The whisperer comment staring down Mason.

"you can pretend you don't care..."

Mason grins as he stares down the man and interrupts him as he steps forward.

"i never said I don't care, he was my brother, a good kid, but he was no reid..."
