Presley lays in bed feeling the pain in her leg and turns on her side, eyeing Mason sitting up in a chair staring her down. She shifts unsure of what is going on and hears Pamela.

"you two caused quite the scene."

"I apologize, Pamela, my people they just worry-"

"yes, and I see you care about them too."

"of course I do," Mason says confidently as he glances to Presley then back to Pamela.

"which is why you know I will take good care of the hills and all the people there."

"fine, do what you have to do Mason. your friend can stay here and rest-"

"no..." Presley sits up feeling the pain and looks to Mason.

"I'll come with you."

Mason pushes her back down onto the bed and shakes his head smiling kindly at her.

"no, you need to rest."

he leans down kissing the top of her head and stares her over.

"you'll stay here..."

He says it firmly staring her over and looks up to Pamela.

"and ill head up to the hills to greet the people and get comfortable. when you're better I'll come back."

Mason walks by Pamela and looks back to Presley as he asks motioning to Presley.

"Please look after her."

"of course Mason." Pamela smiles to the young man and he nods back to her and walks out the door shutting it over.

Pamela looks over Presley and nods to her.

"you're in good hands I will have one of the girls check in on you in a bit. take it easy Presley."

Pamela walks out and Presley looks down eyeing the crumbled piece of paper tucked into her hand. she undoes the rolled paper and eyes the words written on them in a commanding way as she reads it to herself.

"get me information..."

She tucks the paper into her shirt and lays back in the bed staring up at the ceiling as she asks.

"Is that why you saved me?"

                                                          ***********************************************

Mason walks up the trail eyeing the large fenced area and whistles out as the gate opens up wide and he smiles walking into the large gated community. he stops taking in the familiar location and smiles as he whispers.

"home again."

He licks his lips and walks down the street casually but two girls stop one noticing him as she asks sounding scared

"Mason?"

Mason stops noticing the voice and shifts his eyes connecting to the girls as she pushes her younger sister forward demanding her.

"go home!"

the younger girl runs down the block and the older stands still afraid of the man standing on the road. he casually walks forward and she steps back but he stops and looks her over as he asks.

"how's life been?"

the girl shifts her eyes to the ground and mason leans forward whispering to her.

"I told you I would be back."

The girl nods her head as she speaks softly

"Been a long time."

"yeah been what? almost three years." Mason asks sounding like he is counting out the years and she nods keeping her eyes down.

"Yeah, actually I think its four."

"four fucking years." Mason nods agreeing with her and she shifts a bit back away from him as he asks.

"so what you been up to?"

"not dead." she jokes with him and he cracks a smile and comments.

"well not yet..."

She stands her ground knowing the man in front of her well and tries not to show her fear as he lets out a laugh.

"oh shit the look on your face was priceless. look I'm not here to cause trouble but you should know this isn't commonwealth land anymore. it's mine now."

The girl keeps her eyes down and Mason steps closer to her as he asks.

"I'm not gonna have issues with you like before am I?"

she remains quiet and looks up to Mason.

"why'd you come back Mace?"

"I worked hard for Pamela convincing your uptight parents to join the commonwealth and join you did. It was Myron who decided to go and kill them all not me"

"You could have stopped him." The girl says sounding angry as Mason nods his head.

"could have but that would have been really stupid of me."

Mason lets out a long sigh, steps a bit closer to the girl as he motions to her.

"you know it was you who got us that meeting. I'm surprised people let you stay."

"it's been tough."

"I bet." Mason nods his head as he runs his eyes over the girl and she asks sounding uninterested in the man.

"can I go?"

"no." Mason shakes his head as he motions down the block.

"Why don't we take a walk."

"what if I say no."

Mason motion down the block as he speaks firmly to the woman.

"you're smarter than that.."

she walks beside him taking in the glances from the people standing around and Mason walks with her to the large building in the center of the town. He stops and looks out at the crowd of people as he speaks firmly.

"four years ago Myron and commonwealth soldiers came into your home, killed your leaders and offered you a good deal to stay alive."

Mason stops himself eyeing the kids and some younger adults as he nods his head.

"They killed innocent people, murdered your parents and kept you hostage for their own use but I freed you as of today you are no longer part of the commonwealth or the chains they kept wrapped around you. I offer you freedom, food, supplies everything you need and in exchange.."

someone step forward aksing him outright.

"Why should we follow you, Reid?"

Mason nods his head understanding as he motions to the younger people around him.

"because they kept you weak, complacent with what you have but the reality is none of you would last a day out there."

the man standing in front of Mason quiets down and listens to the older man as mason nods to him.

"the only reason those soldiers killed your parents was that Pamela Milton ordered it. she runs the commonwealth and she kept you weak but I, I can make you all strong..."

the people hear sounds of footsteps and eyes the large army march down their street surrounding the civilians and Mason looks down at the crowd of people and asks.

"who will stand with us today?"

the people step aside as Myron walks down the middle of their sidewalk and he stops staring up at Mason with a small grin as he nods to him.

"You said you'd get it..."

Mason steps down and walks towards him as he whispers.

"And you didn't believe me..."

Myron nods to him with a small smile and promises.

"two years that's all we will need with this vantage point we can easily take the commonwealth..."
