Frank had asked for a promposal, a real one. He wanted glitter and ballrooms and fairytale romance. Gee knew whatever they did would be inadequate, and his fantasies would always be better than whatever high-school dance this was for, but they'd try their best.
It was snowing, at least, so there was already that magical element, fat flakes dancing down and decorating hair with white.
Brendon was in on it; without his own dramatic proposal he wanted to help Frank live out his gay drama dreams.
Gee had texted that they weren't feeling great and would skip school, but didn't want Frank to miss anymore. Frank had wanted to join his boyfriend, but his mother had found out about their earlier 'educational snowman building' expedition and told him he was not allowed to take off whenever he felt like it for the weather.
So Frank walked to school alone, listening to emo Christmas songs and letting his feet slide in the slush to match the beat.
Gee, on the other hand, had woken up early, because they had seen the weather forecast and knew how deep the snow would be outside the school.
They were even wearing gloves, big, snow-proof ones, perfect for writing with. They had washed their hair and put on eyeshadow and a coat big enough to warm an elephant.
Brendon met Frank at the gate, and asked him to come round the back of the maths block for various reasons. Frank had been vaguely confused but had agreed anyway, he liked feeling needed, and how he had apparently been Brendons first choice for this mysterious adventure.
Brendon walked with him, talking about everything and nothing. Ryans reaction to learning about stupid stuff he did, english homework, tour dates for obscure bands.
Frank didn't notice the letters scrawled into the ground until Brendon stopped suddenly, his trail of footprints ending.
I love you, Frank.
Winter dance?

Brendon took a photo, of the words in the snow, and Gee standing just behind them, watching Frank with their heart in their eyes, hoping that this would be enough. Frank with his cheeks pink from the cold and the embarrassment.
"I know its not everything you wante-"
They were cut off by Frank running across the grass, his feet disrupting the words, and kissing them.
"I was kind of joking. You didn't need to..."
Frank was mumbling against Gee's lips,
"Lies." Gee responded.
"Okay yeah I did need this."
"Was it good enough?"
"Yeah, just about."
"Hey!" Gee tried to pull away, but Frank didn't let him.
"Shh,"

"Hey, Lady Montague." Jamia approached Hayley when neither of them were in a scene and Frank was engaged in conversation with Ryan.
"Hey," Hayley smiled at her.
"Is it weird pretending to date Gabe?" Jamia asked, jumping up to sit on a table.
Hayley tilted her head to consider it. "Maybe? I didn't really know him before, he seems nice."
"Husband material?"
"Maybe one day. When he's learned how to treat a girl like shes her own person."
"I thought he was gay?"
"He definitely likes girls, and I think he's dated both, so bi?"
"What about you?" Jamia asked, and it was a terrible segue that Hayley most probably noticed, but thankfully didn't comment on.
"I've... I've had a boyfriend in the past, and I think I prefer them to girls, dating wise, but I don't know if I'm straight, exactly. Im open?"
Jamia nodded.
"You don't have to tell me, like I know thats what you wanted to know, but don't feel pressured to tell me."
"Oh, I'm a lesbian. No questions."
"Hows being married to Ryan, then?"
"Couldn't have chosen a better fake husband."
Hayley smiled again.
