"C'mon kid! You can do better!" The man shouted as a 10 year old Corvis swung his fist which was caught by his father's palm.

"Again!"

He swung again and again but he noticed his father's hand was becoming red from his punches. Feeling bad, he stopped and brought his hands down.

"Hey, why did you stop?" His father asked.

"Well, your hands, they're becoming red..." He said shyly, as his father laughed.

"Ahahah, well it is, listen here kid," Nate said as he showed his hand clearly to his son.

"It may be red due to pain, but pain also comes with something else," he said as Corvis just stared with innocent looking eyes.

"Huh?"

"Pain, you see, is actually a gift from Arceus. If we don't go through pain, none of us will improve or be better, we'll be stuck in a boring life," he said.

"Just like my arm?" Corvis asked

"Just like your arm. Pain can also make you stronger, the most strongest Pokémon will also feel the most pain to rise," Nate said as he then held his son's right arm. "So don't ever feel down about your arm, in fact, think of it as a large trampoline, something to bring you up when your spirits go down," Nate said as Corvis smiled

"I will!"

"That's my boy!"

"Corvis?"

Her voice caused Corvis' eyes to snap open immediately as the smell of salty seawater filled his nose. He saw Sara's face right in front of him and blinked.

"Huh?"

"He told me to wake you up, we're almost near Dewford Island," Sara said as Corvis got up. He turned around to see a large island with a lot of buildings on it. There were people surfing at the waves and trainers battling by the beach.

"Well at least we're here now. It's a good thing we helped this man finding his Wingull," Corvis said as he turned towards the captain if the boat they were on. The captain was a strong, elderly man who was steering the ship's wheel, amazing Corvis and Sara with his strength. On top of his bald head, stood a small white and blue bird Pokémon with a long break.

"Wingull" it cried

"Alright, here we are" the captain said as he docked the boat by Dewford Bay. Corvis and Sara got off the boat and turned towards him.

"Thanks again for letting us ride your boat," Corvis said

"Oh please, it should be you who I should be thanking, if it weren't for you, my Peeko here would be lost, and I would lose my marbles if that happened again,"

"Gull!" It cried

"Well, I have to go now, I have to drop off some cargo by at Slateport City, good luck for your gym kid," the old man said as he waved goodbye, and drove off.

After waving goodbye, the two of them turned around to see the sandy town of Dewford.

"Dewford Island, badge number two here we come," Corvis said as they walked around the island. They noticed that most people were fishermen, carrying fishing gear with numerous water pokemon accompanying them. After a checkup at the pokemon centre, Corvis and Sara walked over to a very large building with the gym logo on the roof.
