It was eleven o'clock at night and I sat on the couch waiting for Shawn Mendes, my fiancé, to come home. Finally, at eleven thirty the door swung open and Shawn walked in. Immediately something seemed off.

"Hey. Where were you?" I asked as Shawn sat down on the couch with me.

"At the gym. Max has really been pushing me." Shawn said. I noticed that he winced when he sat down and he didn't pull me into his lap like he usually does. Huh. I nodded.

"What workouts did you do today?" I asked.

"Boxing." Shawn asked as he rested his head back and closed his eyes.

"You boxed with a punching bag, right? You didn't box against someone?" I asked. When Shawn first started boxing, I told him that I didn't really want him boxing against anyone because I didn't want him to get hit too hard and get hurt. I even told Max, his trainer, that I didn't want him boxing with someone, with Shawn was fine with. Shawn shook his head.

"No. I just boxed with the punching bag." Shawn said.

"Okay, well, let's head up to bed baby. It's almost midnight." I said. Shawn winced as he stood up. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, why?" He asked.

"Well you just winced like you were in pain." I said. Shawn shook his head.

"No. Just a tough workout today." Shawn said. I nodded and we went up to bed. Shawn fell asleep almost immediately. I, on the other hand, couldn't fall asleep for some reason. I went on Facebook. On Facebook, I'm part of a group for my town and I saw that the guy that Shawn trains with, Max, who also runs the gym, had posted pictures of him and Shawn boxing against each other. What. The. Fuck??? I read the caption that Max had put along with it.

"This guy, Grammy nominated singer Shawn Mendes, has been making great progress at my gym. Come on down if you want to box like Shawn does!" Max had written. I didn't care about the fact that it was now two in the morning. I turned on the light next to my bed and shook Shawn to wake him up.

"What? What's wrong?" He asked.

"What the fuck Shawn?" I asked. He sat up next to me.

"What?" He asked. I showed him Max's post and his eyes went wide. "Baby, I can explain."

"So you can explain why you did the thing that you know makes me feel worried? Or is it that you can explain why you fucking lied to your fiancé?" I practically yelled. Shawn sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Both." He said.

"Okay. I'm listening." I said.

"I just really want to be in shape for the wedding, so that's why I've been boxing. I didn't want to worry you, so that's why I lied." Shawn said.

"Shawn, do other fucking work outs, you still would have been in shape for the wedding. You're already in shape, just continue to do the workouts that you're used to doing and you'll be fine. How could you Shawn? You lied to me! Out of everyone in my life that I ever expected to lie to me, I never thought that it would be you. How could you?" I asked as I began to cry. I felt so hurt and betrayed.

"No, no, no, don't cry honey." Shawn said.

"Well I feel so hurt and betrayed right now so I'm going to cry. You know what? I'm going to sleep in the guest bedroom tonight." I said.

"Y/n, please." Shawn pleaded, but I was already getting out of bed and going down the hall to the guest bedroom. I shut the door behind me, got under the covers, and cried. I also felt upset with my dad. Why do I feel upset with my dad? Because he's good friends with Max, they went to high school together. My dad is the one that, when Shawn was looking for a good gym to join, my dad recommended him to Max. I barely got any sleep, and eventually I heard the front door open and shut. I bet Shawn went back to the gym. I called my dad.

"Hey Y/n." My dad said.

"I am so fucking pissed at Max right now." I said.

"What? Why?" He asked. I told him what had happened last night/this morning. He sighed.

"Both Max, and Shawn knew that I didn't want him boxing, but they did it anyways." I said as I paced around the room. My dad finally got me to calm down and we eventually hung up. There was a knock at the door. "Come in." I said. Shawn walked in with pink tulips in his hands. He looked like he had been crying.

"I'm so sorry that I lied to you Y/n. I made you some pancakes, um, they're downstairs on the table when you want them. Oh, and, uh, these are for you. I know that pink tulips are your favorite." Shawn said as he handed me the flowers. I smiled as I took them and sniffed them. They smelled wonderful.

"Thank you. They're beautiful." I said. Shawn nodded and sat down on the bed with me.

"Just like you. Well, you're more beautiful. I'm so sorry honey. I never should have been boxing, and I never should have lied to you. I'm so sorry honey, just please don't break off the engagement or call of the wedding." Shawn pleaded as he began to cry. My eyes widened and I put the flowers next to me as I pulled him in for a hug.

"Oh my gosh honey, no, I'm not going to break off the engagement or anything. I love you Shawn, I'm just hurt that you lied to me." I said. Shawn nodded.

"I'm sorry baby." Shawn said. I held his face in my hands.

"I forgive you Shawn. Don't cry honey, it's okay, we're all better now." I said as I wiped some of his tears away.

"I love you so fucking much and I can't lose you Y/n. I can't, I won't let it happen." Shawn said.

"I love you too and you're not going to lose me Shawn. Not now, not ever. Come on, let's go eat breakfast. Actually, wait, why have you been wincing lately?" I asked. Shawn sighed.

"Max hit me kind of hard." He said.

"Do you have bruises?" I asked.

"Babe..." Shawn sighed.

"Please tell me, or show me or something." I said. Shawn sighed.

"Okay." Shawn stood up and lifted up his shirt. My hand went to my mouth as I saw all of the bruises. I stood up and held his face in my hands.

"Never do this again baby. Please." I pleaded. Shawn nodded.

"I won't baby girl. I promise." Shawn said.

"Is it okay to hug you or would that hurt?" I asked. Shawn smiled at me softly.

"Of course you can hug me, just softly." Shawn said. I nodded and we hugged. Shawn kissed the top of my head and I smiled. I then pulled away and looked at my handsome husband to be.

"I can't wait for our wedding day." I said. Shawn smiled.

"Neither can I baby. You're going to look beautiful, but then again you always do." Shawn said, causing me to blush. He then interlaced his fingers with mine and we went downstairs and ate breakfast. I'll always love Shawn, even when he does stuff that worries me.
