Jake Mendes's point of view
It was about ten o'clock at night when I heard a noise coming from my mom's room. My dad is the singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes, and he's currently on tour. That makes me, his seventeen year old son, the man of the house for now. I crept down the hall and towards my mom and dad's room. Her door was open a little and I looked in. She was wiping away tears and it looked like she was looking at her and my dad's wedding album. I went back to my room, shut the door, and called my dad.

"Hey Jakey boy, is everything okay?" He asked when he picked up.

"Did I wake you up?" I asked quietly.

"It's okay. Is everything okay?" Dad asked.

"Well, I just heard a noise coming from yours and mom's room so I went to look and her door was open a little and so I peeked in. She was looking at your wedding album while sniffling and wiping tears away." I said. Dad sighed.

"Okay. Thank you for letting me know. I'll give her a call." He said.

"Okay. I'll talk to you later Dad." I said.

"Okay, I love you buddy." He said.

"I love you too Dad." I said, and we hung up. I hope that he's able to cheer up my mom, he usually is.

Your point of view

I looked at mine and my husband's wedding album. He's coming home from tour next month so we can celebrate our twenty year wedding anniversary. I smiled as I cried a bit, but the tears weren't happy tears. I was only smiling because I was looking at photos from mine and Shawn's wedding day. I was crying because I missed Shawn so much. I saw my phone light up. It was Shawn. I willed myself to stop crying and I wiped away tears as I picked up his FaceTime call.

"Hi hubby." I said as his beyond handsome face came up on the screen.

"Hi wifey. What are you up to?" He asked. For some reason he looked concerned, but I wasn't sure of why.

"Oh, I'm just looking at our wedding album. Can you believe that next month will be twenty years?" I asked. He smiled and shook his head.

"Nope. It feels like just yesterday I was putting your ring on you and we were saying I do." Shawn said. I nodded.

"Yeah. I love you Mr. Mendes." I said.

"I love you too Mrs. Mendes." He said. He was smiling, but I could tell by the look in his eyes that he was concerned about something.

"Are you okay? You're smiling but your eyes look concerned." I asked and said. He sighed.

"I just got a call from Jakey." He said.

"Is everything okay?" I asked.

"Well you tell me. He heard a noise coming from our room, and he said that your door was open a little so he peeked in and he saw you looking at our wedding album while you sniffled and wiped tears away. Be honest with me babe: did you force yourself to stop crying so you could answer this?" Shawn asked. I sighed and nodded.

"Yeah. I should start shutting that door all the way." I said, not wanting mine and Shawn's kids to see me like this.

"Babe that's not the point." Shawn said.

"Then what is?" I asked as tears fell onto my cheeks.

"The point is that my wife was crying while looking at our wedding album." He said.

"I just miss you a lot, that's all." I said.

"Honey I miss you too. When you get sad about missing me, I want you to call me, okay?" He asked.

"But what about the time difference?" I asked as I wiped away some tears that had fallen onto my cheeks.

"I don't care about the time difference. I don't care if I'm asleep or not. I don't want to get a phone call from son where he tells me that his mother is crying. I could tell that he was worried about you babe." Shawn said. More tears fell and my heart broke.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to worry him. I try not to let the kids see me like this. I should've shut the door all the way. I'm sorry Shawn, I didn't mean to worry him." I said.

"It's okay darling, I know that you didn't do it on purpose." Shawn said.

"I try to cry quietly but I guess that that didn't work this time." I said. Shawn's eyes widened.

"This time? How often do you cry at night babe?" Shawn asked. I shook my head.

"It's fine Shawn, don't worry about it." I said as more tears fell.

"Y/n Mendes, you're my wife, of course I'm going to worry about it. How often do you cry at night baby girl?" He asked, his voice tender and soothing.

"Um, usually like, a few times a week. Like three times a week." I said. His eyes widened.

"Oh honey, why haven't you told me about this?" He asked. I shrugged.

"I don't know. You have enough on your plate with touring and stuff. You don't need to worry about me." I said.

"You're my wife, it's my job to worry about you." Shawn said. I sighed and moved the phone a little so I could look at our wedding album.

"When you get home, and we get some alone time, can we just sit and cuddle and look at our wedding album and talk about our wedding?" I asked as I looked at my phone. Shawn smiled and nodded.

"Of course we can." Shawn said. I smiled.

"Thank you. I'm going to go check on Jake now." I said. Shawn nodded.

"Okay my darling girl. I love you." He said. I smiled.

"I love you too." I said, and we hung up. I put mine and Shawn's wedding album away and then went down the hall to Jake's room and knocked on the door. He opened it.

"Hey Mom." He said.

"Hey. Can we talk please?" I asked. He nodded.

"Sure." He said and we sat on his bed.

"I want to apologize. Your dad just called me and told me about the conversation that you guys had. He said that you sounded worried. I'm sorry that I worried you." I said. He nodded.

"It's okay Mom. I know you didn't mean to. Are you feeling better after talking to Dad?" Jake asked. I nodded.

"Yeah." I said. Soon, I went back to bed, grateful to have a son and a husband that care about me so much.
