Just three months ago, I gave birth to mine and my husband Shawn Mendes's first child, Rose Lucille Mendes. I woke up to the sound of her crying and started to get out of bed, but I felt Shawn gently pull me back down.

"Stay in bed honey. I got her." Shawn said.

"No, you've been getting her. Let me do it babe. You stay in bed and rest." I said. I heard Shawn sigh.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yeah." I said.

"Okay." He said, and I went down the hall and into Rose's nursery. I picked her up and then sniffed her butt. Nope, she didn't need a diaper change. I tried feeding her, but she wasn't hungry. I tried sitting in the rocking chair and rocking her, but it was to no avail, she just kept crying.

"Please Rose. Mommy wants to sleep. Please stop crying honey, I want to go back to bed and be with your Daddy." I said. By now she had been crying for quite some time, and the frustration of her not falling asleep and calming down got to me, and I started crying. "Please Rose. I want to sleep." I said. I soon heard Shawn come in and he gently took her out of my arms.

"Shhh honey, I got her." Shawn said.

"She won't stop crying Shawn." I said. He nodded and then started to sing to her as he rocked her.

"Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful? Isn't she precious? Less than one minute old. I never thought through love we'd be, making one as lovely as she, but isn't she lovely made from love?" Shawn sang, and Rose stopped crying. He smiled and put her back in her crib. He then reached his hand out for me to take. I held his hand and felt electricity spark through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time.

"Good night Rosie." I whispered. Shawn and I then went back to bed. I cuddled up to him, but then began crying again.

"What's wrong honey?" Shawn asked as he reached over and turned on the light beside the bed.

"Am I a bad mom?" I asked. His eyes widened.

"No, of course not! Why do you ask that darling?" Shawn asked.

"I can't even get my own child to go back to sleep." I said. Shawn kissed my forehead.

"Oh honey, she was just being stubborn. She loves you." Shawn said. I nodded.

"You and her are my whole world." I said with a smile, and Shawn smiled back.

"Well that's good, because you and her are my world too." Shawn said. I placed a gentle and loving kiss on his lips, and of course he kissed back. I suddenly didn't want to fall asleep. I pulled away from the kiss.

"Remember all of those times when we would stay up for the whole night?" I asked. Shawn nodded.

"Yeah. But we can't do that anymore. We have to sleep when she sleeps." Shawn said. I nodded.

"Yeah. I love you Shawny. You're such a good daddy to her." I said. Shawn smiled at me.

"Well you're such a good mommy to her. I love you too Y/n. Let's get some sleep." Shawn said as he turned off the light. I put my head on his chest and fell asleep. I'm so grateful for Shawn and how he can always calm Rose (and I) down.
