52. Dock Talks

My boyfriend of three years, the singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes, just became my fiancé, and we couldn't be happier. We stood on the dock, where he had just proposed, and wrapped our arms around each other. His arms were around my shoulders and my arms were around his waist. I looked out at the water and the sunset as I rested my head on Shawn's chest.

"This view is so beautiful." I said.

"Yeah but my view is even more beautiful." Shawn said. I looked up at him and he was already looking at me with a big smile on his face.

"Well thank you." I said.

"You're welcome." He said. I reached up and brushed a stray hair out of his face.

"I love you Shawny." I said. His smile widened and he kissed my forehead.

"I love you too Y/n." He said. I took his hands in mine.

"No, like, I love you more than anything in this world Shawn. You got to make your speech about how much you love me, let me make my speech about how much I love you." I said with a smile. He chuckled and nodded.

"Okay. Go ahead." He said.

"You're the most handsome man that I've ever seen. But that's not why I'm with you, or at least not the main reason. Your looks are just a bonus. Shawn, you are the most passionate person that I know. When you're on stage, you give it your all for every single show. You're passionate with everything that you do and I love it. I've never met anyone as passionate as you. You're the kindest and nicest person that I know. You never say no to taking pictures with a fan, and you always have a smile on your face. You have the kindest heart and the sweetest soul. You're just an amazing human being with an amazing personality and I love you so much." I said. Shawn smiled at me and kissed me. I felt my heart race as if it were going to beat out of my chest, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through me like fireworks.

"I love you." He said when we pulled away.

"I love you too. But I wasn't finished." I said with a giggle. Shawn threw his head back with laughter before looking at me with such love in his eyes.

"Okay, what else is there my love?" Shawn asked.

"You're the most handsome man to ever walk this planet. I think that my favorite thing about you physically would be your gorgeous caramel eyes. It's like they can tell me stories. They tell me when you're sad, when you're mad, when you're excited, when you're happy, everything. And I always get lost in them, but I don't really think that I want to find my way out. I love your lips," I said as I ran my thumb along his bottom lip and he smiled. I continued. "They're so pink and plump and they give me such magical feelings. I even love your nose and your ears. I love the cute little cheek scar that you have and I love the story behind it. And I love your jaw. It's so sharp and defined that I'm surprised that I don't cut myself when I touch it." I said as I touched Shawn's jaw and Shawn chuckled.

"Is that all?" Shawn asked.

"Shhh, I have more." I said. Shawn laughed.

"Okay." He said.

"I love your arms. They're so strong and when you hug me or cuddle me or whatever, basically, when your arms are around me, I know that nothing bad can touch me and that I'm safe and protected. I love your chest. I love your chest hair. I love your abs. I love every damn thing about you Shawn, and I can't wait to marry you." I said. Shawn smiled at me and kissed me again before pulling me in for a hug.

"I love you baby girl. All of those words were so beautiful and it makes me really happy knowing that you love me that much." Shawn said.

"I love you too and of course I love you that much! You're so amazing babe. I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together." I said. Shawn smiled at me and rubbed my cheek with his thumb.

"Come on babe, let's go to bed and we'll call our families in the morning." Shawn said. I nodded and that's exactly what we did. I'm so beyond lucky and grateful to have Shawn. I love him so much.
