A/n: Okay so let's pretend that it's the middle of May of next year and that Shawn hasn't gotten you the promise ring yet. Also, explicit language in this one. Anyways, I hope that you enjoy this imagine. Okay, without further ado, let's begin!

I woke up in the arms of my boyfriend of about five months, the singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes. It's currently May, and I've been staying at Shawn's condo in Toronto for a few days now. I leave July first, so it's going to be hard. I've gotten used to spending so much time with Shawn and falling asleep in his arms. Falling asleep in the arms of the man that I love is an amazing feeling. His arms make me feel like I'm in the safest place in the world, like nothing bad can touch me.

I laid there and stared at my beyond handsome boyfriend who was still asleep. I admired his features. I love the little scar that he got on his cheek from when he was little. I looked at his eyelids, the ones that cover his caramel colored eyes that I always get lost in. I looked at his beautiful, pink, plump, lips, and resisted the urge that I had to kiss them. I began to gently rub Shawn's back, hoping not to wake him up, but of course I accidentally did. He opened his eyes and smiled at me.

"Good morning gorgeous." He said, causing me to blush.

"Good morning handsome. Did I wake you up?" I asked. Shawn shrugged.

"It's okay. I like it when you rub my back. It feels nice." He said.

"Yeah?" I asked. He nodded.

"Yeah. Are you hungry darling? We can go out to eat if you would like?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

"Yeah. Let me just get dressed and stuff and then we can get going." I said as I began to get out of bed, but Shawn pulled me back.

"I want a kiss." He said and then puckered up his lips. I giggled before putting my lips on his. I instantly felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through my body like fireworks. We soon pulled away.

"Better?" I asked. Shawn nodded.

"Much. I love you so much." Shawn said. I smiled at him before getting out of bed.

"Well I love you so much too." I said, and Shawn smiled before also getting out of bed. I put on shorts and a t-shirt and Shawn did the same. We were just going to go to IHOP, so it's not like I needed to dress up.

"Ready?" Shawn asked. I nodded and he reached his hand out for mine. As soon as our skin made contact, I felt electricity spark through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time. Shawn and I soon arrived at the restaurant. We got our food, and as we ate, I could tell that something was off with Shawn. I nudged him with my foot, and he looked at me.

"What's wrong?" I asked. He shook his head and looked back down at his food so he could take another bite.

"Nothing." He said.

"Babe, remember what I said? Communication is key in a relationship. We also promised that we wouldn't keep secrets from each other." I asked and said. Shawn put his fork down and nodded.

"There's something that I want to talk about but I'm nervous to talk about it." He said. I reached across the table and took his hands in mine. He looked at me.

"Honey, it's just me. You don't have to be nervous. You can talk to me about anything, you know that." I said. Shawn nodded and sighed.

"Um, how do you feel about promise rings?" He asked. I was surprised. Yes, Shawn and I had talked about our future before but never about promise rings.

"I think that they're nice." I said. He nodded.

"How would you feel if I got you a promise ring?" He asked. I smiled and squeezed his hands.
