I spent the rest of my day wandering around the village, it was only when it'd started to get late, oranges and reds stretching across the sky that I noticed a white bird flying around in circles overhead.
"They're here," I muttered to myself as I rushed down and alley and stared down the centre of the entrance where a form was stood, waiting. The captain of the guard was also down there, I could imagine the conversation they were having and quickly backed up before rushing towards the Kazekage's office building. I jumped awkwardly to the roof, barely landing steadily and continued to watched as the bird circled for the rest of the afternoon. I'd glance around from time to time, still noticing that I was the only one bothered by it.
The evening finally fell and just as I was beginning to tense with the d-day clock mentally ticking down in my mind, a line of sand suddenly came soaring past me chasing the bird through the sky.
"It's begun," slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it as Kankuro approached me.
"What has?" he asked.
"The Akatsuki are attacking," I whispered. Kankuro looked around frantically for his brother, I just tapped his shoulder and pointed up.
We all watched the fight as Gaara hit him time and time again, hiding in a ball of sand and then creating a larger one to catch Deidara. Sand prison.
"I need to help him..." I whispered as Kankuro concluded the battle to be over, not knowing just how wrong he was about that.
"It's all over," he declared confidently as I just tucked my hands into my pockets and stared up, barely breathing as I watched knowing that this may or may not have happened if I'd warned them outright that this was going to happen. Knowing the future... as much as it is a gift... it is also a curse.
Although, I suppose it wouldn't matter too much. Deidara already knows anyway—
"He knows Gaara's weakness," I stated, glancing over at Kankuro out of the corner of my eye as he frowned, "They take their research seriously."
"That means-" Kankuro registered what I had said and came to the conclusion pretty quickly, he gasped as he came to his final realisation and looked up as a large explosion started through the sky, bursting along the side of the ball of sand Deidara was in dropping sand back down onto the village and allowing Deidara to free fall out of Gaara's makeshift trap. Gaara moved the lighter sand to catch him again. He threw the Akatsuki member back towards his prison but Deidara being Deidara threw one of his clay bombs towards the ball of sand, bursting it open and freeing his larger bird again before swiftly flying off away, the sand persistently following after.
"There isn't a man alive who could escape Gaara's sand," Kankuro stated, clearly he had a lot of faith in his brother. Admirable, but as someone who knows how this'll end.. let's just say I'm not entirely convinced.
Ok. I'm going to give him a slight hand.
But... I glanced up as Gaara managed to grab Deidara who sent one creepy ass looking centipede clay bomb down the sand that had hold of his arm, it exploded but not much had changed and Gaara bit back with the sand coffin which ended with Deidara's right arm being crushed within the sand it was trapped in.
