Temari's PoV

"Temari!" Kankuro repeated my name over and over, shaking my shoulder harshly. I groaned and shoved him away by pushing his face away from me as I slowly woke myself up and glared at him annoyed.

"What is it, Kankuro?" I asked him, extremely unamused.

"It's y/n and Gaara, come quick!" he urged, I panicked, the way he was saying everything made me think something was wrong.

I jumped out of my bed and followed him to y/n's room. He kept the door open a crack and pointed in. I looked in to see them both sleeping. I raised a brow at this sight. Gaara was holding her close to him and she was just... lying there, I guess?

"They're adorable," I smiled before closing the door and punching Kankuro's head again.

"What was that for?" he hissed as we walked into my room again. I plopped under my covers and Kankuro perched on the end of my bed.

"You woke me up at..." I looked at my clock and frowned, "6am just to show me that our little brother is showing his fondness towards y/n."

"Exactly! I knew you wouldn't believe me if I didn't show you, so deal with it," he snapped at me. I sighed.

"Why did you even see it?" I asked.

"Well, Gaara had told me that I needed to wake him so he could get ahead with his paperwork for the day. So I went to his room not to see him reading or writing, actually, not there at all. So me being me, I took a curious stroll around the house until I accidentally stopped outside of y/n's room," he told me with a mischievous smirk.

"Shouldn't he be awake then?" I asked, he shrugged.

"I think I'll leave him because he looks so cosy," he replied. I just got even more annoyed.

"Then spare me your presence and let me sleep!" I yelled, kicking him off the bed. He groaned and stuck his tongue out at me before shaking his head.

"No can do, you need to go and watch the academy graduation today, it starts in an hour, so get up!" Kankuro told me before walking out my room to do whatever the hell he does this early in the morning.

Your PoV

I woke up to feel something warm against my back and something wrapped around my waist protectively. Looking down, I noticed arms and froze for a moment before glancing up them, to the shoulder and then to the face of the person the arms belonged to. Gaara.

What is going on?!

I don't remember falling asleep like this?!

I tried to wriggle my way out of his hold, but he just seemed to tighten his grip on me and pulled me in closer to him.

"Let... go..." I managed to squeeze out between my struggles before sighing and giving up. This is just his thing, hugging me from behind and making it so I can't move.

But honestly... it's comfortable. No wonder I slept so well last night. I haven't felt this well rested in a while.

After a little bit of shifting, I managed to turn myself around and found myself staring at his chest so I moved us a little so I could see his face instead. Moments later his expression started to change as he began to wake up as well, I waited silently until his eyes slowly opened up and he just stared back at me.

"Morning, sleepy head," I greeted him, he looked down at me and slightly smiled sleepily.

"M-morning," he stammered, I was expecting him to release me but instead I found myself clearing my throat and shifting a little to make him realised that he still had a firm hold on me. He quickly retracted his arms and moved away, looking away and hiding his face behind his arms.

"S-sorry," he apologised, I sat up and looked at him. His ears were almost as red as his hair. I smiled softly and let out a light sigh.

"Don't worry about it," I replied before climbing out my bed and stretching.

"Come on, Lord Kazekage, you have work to do!" Kankuro came bursting into the room before stopping, "oh and what was happening here?"

He wiggled his eyebrows in our direction creepily.

"Please, Kankuro, I beg. Don't ever do that again," I say to him before walking past him and downstairs before calling back up at him, "someone might just get the wrong impression about you!"

"What?!" he shouted back from the doorway of my room as I just continued down the stairs.

About an hour later, I found myself lounging on the red sofa in Gaara's office again, actually reading the book I had yesterday properly as he did his paperwork and Kankuro did whatever a Kankuro does.

"Sorry about last night," Gaara apologised again, I sighed.

Should I start tallying his apologies? This is the fourth time this morning since we woke up.

"Don't be, I'm not going to lie; that was by far the best night's sleep I've ever had," I told him truthfully, hiding my burning face behind my book. He stayed silent and I looked around my book worried that I'd annoyed him. But he wasn't in his seat anymore.

"Where did he go then?" I asked, sitting up and looking around just as someone knocked on the door, "yes?"

A guard walked in.

"Oh, sorry, I'm here to speak with Lord Kazekage," he told me, I shook my head and put my book down on the desk before perching on it and looking at the man ahead of me.

"He just... stepped out, what's the matter? Maybe I can help?" I asked, he stood in thought for a moment before nodding.

"We think someone suspicious is advancing towards the village and at an alarming speed," the guard told me.

"Alright, I'll go take a look, where abouts?" I asked him, he smiled, clearly grateful he was going to get some help on whatever this issue was.

"East."

"Ok, you're dismissed," I replied, he nodded and disappeared. I wrote a note to Gaara and left it tucked in my book on his desk, only a corner of it actually keeping my place in my book so that Gaara would actually notice the message I'd left for him and come over to the eastern side of the wall to come see what was going on. I then left the building and headed towards where the 'suspicious' individual was advancing from.

"Y/n?" Jiro called out to me once I arrived, I nodded.

"Morning, Jiro," I greeted him before glancing forward, "I'm here to investigate this mystery person."

He gave me a slight nod and passed me a looking glass. I put it to my eye and looked around until my gaze caught a figure who was indeed advancing at an alarming rate. I frowned and jumped off the wall, landing in the sand below.

"Stay up there, I'll send a signal if I need back up," I called up, Jiro nodded and started barking orders as I started to run across the sand (as difficult as it was) until I met the figure halfway. We kept distance from each other.

We weren't notified that anyone was coming to the village today. And with the speed that this person was running at they aren't just a simple traveller or merchant of any kind. They must be a well trained nin which makes this all the more worrying. The last time nin's arrived without notice, the village was attacked and our Kazekage was kidnapped, had his tailed beast stolen from him, killed, and then revived in the span of less than half a week.

Not to mention, the village is still closed to outsiders. Only those given expressed permission from Gaara to enter the village are able to visit but no one has put in such a request recently so this...

"State your purpose of coming here. We aren't taking any visitors at the moment," I called out to the person. Watching them carefully as I waited for them to reply. They didn't respond, instead they raised their hand.

"What are you—" before I could finish what I was saying, I felt myself being thrown back by some invisible force, "what the—ow—"

I landed against the wall of Sunagakure with such force that it cracked and crumbled a little bit.

Just another thing to repair now, huh?

"Y/n!" Jiro jumped down next to me and helped me up, "you ok?"

"Yeah..."
