My body was aching.
I hope Kankuro is OK.
Please hurry and get here.
Kankuro's PoV
After giving them the ring and also giving them a bit of Sasori's clothing that was trapped in my puppets so Kakashi could do some extra tracking with ninja hounds on top of y/n's ring just in case, the honoured siblings moved towards me. I sat up again to speak with them.
"Lady Chiyo and Lord Ebizo? You're here?" I greeted them. I was still hurting but not as much as before so talking to them now was a bit easier. I just can't help but hope that y/n and Gaara aren't also like this. Is it too hopeful to believe that she managed to reach the guy who had Gaara before the man I fought reached them again?
"There's something we must know and only you can tell us," Lady Chiyo said slowly, giving a serious look, "Am I correct in thinking that one of your opponents, the one you fought with was Sasori?"
I just looked away and exhaled not particularly wanting to recall my one sided beat down by the man.
"Well speak up, Kankuro," Lord Ebizo said softly.
"Yes. Sasori of the red sand. Y/n labelled him before we fought and then he told me so himself," I told them. Wanting nothing more than to forget the painful memory of him.
"Sasori of the red sand, huh?" Kakashi asked, "I get the feeling you know something about these Akatsuki. Will you tell us?"
Lady Chiyo seemed almost to glare at him but seemingly also clearly knew, just as Kakashi had pointed out, about Sasori. The room quickly fell tense until eventually Sakura returned with something. She poured it into a cup and helped me drink it. Disgusting— I coughed and grimaced as I wanted nothing more than for this taste to leave my mouth. Why do all the things that heal your body have to taste just so bad?
"There you should be alright now," Sakura told me seriously, "just lay back and rest, don't move around until the numbness passes."
So I'm stuck to the bed... I'm sorry Gaara... y/n... I won't be able to come help you out after all. Not now.
"All of you are going to need rest as well after your journey, we've prepared rooms for you," Baki told the leaf ninja.
"But we've got to go after Gaara!" Naruto protested.
"Thanks. We'll take you up on that offer," Kakashi butted in causing his blonde-haired student to look back at him almost dumbfounded, "we may have to travel far and fast tomorrow."
"OK, you win," Naruto gives up and I can't help but to look down sadly.
I saw Naruto's impatience to leave and suddenly my whole body became all to obvious to me as I felt my frustration build up. My arms were shaking uncontrollably, and my eyesight wouldn't stop phasing in and out of blurriness. I was foolish. Now I'm paying the price. I should've just waited for backup or at least gone about tracking them a different way but—damn it!
I need to accept that now I won't be able to help him. Not now. I looked at Naruto for a moment before looking away... I'm sure that if it's anyone... he can save Gaara. No—he will save Gaara, I'm sure of it.
"Naruto. Save my little brother, will you?" I asked him, not looking up.
"Don't worry, I will," he replied with a friendly and soft tone different to his usual loud and boisterous one, "after all I'm going to be Hokage someday and for now the Kazekage can just owe me one."
I looked up to see him giving me that Naruto smile we all knew well and just exhaled a slight laugh before just nodding and give him a half smile.
Yeah... I believe that.

(editing an: ^^ lmao what a move)Your PoV
The pain came in waves. Sometimes it was so painful that I couldn't help but yell out, hoping that anyone who could help me could hear me, sometimes it wasn't as intense, but it was still so painful as it burned beneath my skin that left me fighting the urge to tear my skin away and remove the poison myself. It didn't help that where I was laying, every time I opened my eyes, I just looked up to see Gaara in pain. Probably more pain than even I was in as I watched the strange red clouds of chakra escape from his body through his nose, eyes, and mouth. Second by second he become less and less alive. The pain of watching that was more than the pain of the poison. I wasn't sure why I found it so painful, after all, I barely knew the guy, up until recently he was just a drawing on a screen but now... I don't know—maybe it was because it was exactly that reason, the fact that he was no longer just a drawing on the screen that made it so hard to watch this scene play out.
I was no longer a spectator in this world from far away, safe in my bedroom, but now... I was part of the scene. Part of the world.
"G-Gaara," I managed to stutter out, stretching my arm up.
"You're still alive?" Deidara asked looked down to where I am, "Sasori my man, I think your poisons are getting weak."
"No it's her chakra, it seems like it's fighting against it," Sasori huffed. Not happy that his poison was being belittled.
"Our location has been discovered," Black Zetsu announced, "the enemy approaches."
"Which enemy is that?" Deidara asked.
"A very skilled and dangerous one," black Zetsu replied, "his name is Might Guy."
Guy? Oh thank god—this'll be over soon then...
"Might Guy? Who is he?" the Akatsuki member who threw me around, Pain, asked.
"An elite leaf shinobi. A master of taijutsu, don't underestimate him," former leaf anbu, Itachi, piped in his knowledge from being in the village proving to be quite useful for the group of criminals even if it was as a mere warning.
"Ah~ That strange beast again?" Kisame asked.
"We will use that jutsu again against him," Pain announced.
"I'll go, let me take care of him. It will make up for me failing to find a jinchuriki host," Hidan said quickly.
"No. Leave him to me," Kisame cut in, "you see I know him. I have a personal score to settle with him."
And ironically he doesn't even remember you, you fool. Unfortunate for you, really, it is.
"Yes, as you have the most chakra of any of the Akatsuki, you are probably the most suitable to employ that jutsu," Pain agreed without a moment of hesitation, "very well, Kisame."
"Excellent," Kisame replied happily.
"But I'll still require 30% of your chakra here," Pain continued.
"Well, well, finally. I've been waiting to pay him back for that kick he gave me," Kisame smiled a wicked smile.
Anyway... thank god... they're close...
Hold on just a little longer, Gaara, please, just a little bit. They're almost here now.
