When Deidara finally started moving I used my tracking jutsu and started following him. I was still keeping my distance as best I could, not particularly wanting to get into such a stressful battle right off the bat. There must be a way I can grab Gaara and just disappear without being forced to fight the man, right?

After a while, I just decided to move in. I began my rush towards him just to find he'd basically begun camping out, clearly waiting for Sasori. Wait does that mean—I paused and ducked out of the way behind a particularly large dune and watched as Sasori returned to his teammates side.

Kankuro... fuck.

I should've jumped Deidara when I had the chance. I can't beat both him and Sasori. I have no choice but to just trail them until we get ground more advantageous for me. The forest.

Eventually, after they spoke for a while, they began their walk again. We continued on until we reached a set of trees so I reached for the first one and muttered out a quiet, "Plant Phasing Jutsu," before the strange sensation of me sinking in the tree took over. It took a moment for me to finally adjust to the feeling but I eventually got used to it and began to charge up my chakra again as I followed them. I was running low because I made two tracking tools without rest to recharge so I need the moment and thankfully, following them this way means I'm less likely to be caught.

Soon enough we reached a large cliff that slid down into a river. There was a not so well hidden post framing what was clearly the entrance to a cave that had been blocked up by a boulder. I watched as they both stopped. Why are they standing around like that? Have I forgotten how this played out? Did someone inside let them in? Surely I couldn't have forgotten how this went, right?

"Can you sense it too?" Deidara asked. Huh?

"Yes, there's someone in the trees," Sasori says. What?!

Suddenly that metallic puppet tail of his came flying towards the tree I was hiding out in. I quickly pushed myself out before I could get forced out. How'd he detect me?! No. It would've been stranger if they hadn't at all, after all, I'd been following them this whole time like this so surely they should've noticed me eventually.

I jumped a few paces back away from them.

"It's that girl from earlier. So she managed to follow us," Deidara glanced over me curiously upon seeing me.

"Her eyes are different now," Sasori pointed out. Dude, back off. Not everyone's eyes stay one colour.

"I'm f/n l/n," I declared as they both jumped down the side of the cliff, "a ninja of Sunagakure and I won't allow you to go any further! Not without dropping our Kazekage."

Not literally drop him though. He'll get more hurt than he already is that way...
