The River's Tale

In the forest a river roars

Pushing past the mountain's doors

Swiftly through the forest it flows

Yet reaching the forest's end it slows

Out to the open fields it reaches

Flowing towards the sandy beaches

Loudly it chatters along its path

Foaming up at the banks to give the land a bath

Onward it pushes towards the sea

Where it dreams of being free

The river spreads out across the land

Roaring loudly when it reaches the sand

It cuts through the soft beach

For the sea is the one that it wishes to reach

The river speeds up and kisses the sea

And all its strength subsides with a final plea

Ocean and river come together at last

Although the river still wants to go fast

They dance under the moon and sun

And feel like their story has just begun
