Dark clouds covered the sky
Promising cold wind and rain all night
All fires were scheduled to die
As lightning lit up the sky so bright
Thunder clapped and lightning flashed
And rain drenched the land
Strong winds began to bash
And the whole earth shook like a frightened hand
Trees swayed in the hurricane-like winds
And the lightning kissed a nearby tree
Rain and wind caused branches to bend
And the earth swarmed like busy bees
Lightning lit up the sky
And thunder roared like a lion
The rain pelted down and the young plants waved hi
More ominous clouds began to fly in
Filling the earth with with lightning and rain
But slowly the winds died down
And the thunder became quieter than a train
The rain stopped and left the ground a muddy brown
The storm moved on
Taking away the thunder and rain
All that was left in the striking dawn
Was the brilliant lightning that gave little pain
