Time flies at the speed of light
There in the moment and gone soon
Only fleeting memories left in its wake
Leaving as fast as time itself
Fading from mind before they stick
Like snow under the desert sky
Oh, if only they stayed
To relieve moments that were loved
Cherished like a childhood toy
But alas, they are gone
As if they were a leaf in a storm
Tossed by the winds
Battered by the rains
Until it is whole no more
But when a memory sticks
Like glue to your fingers
Don't let it go
Soak it in
For it may never come back again
Moments with friends
Where things got of out hand
Or special projects
Where the teacher wanted you to try your hand
As older students guided you
To the path of success that is hard to find
My stories tell who I am
My words display my inner thoughts
Yet my memories reveal everything
From those stolen moments in class
Before the teacher pretended to be mad
Until she laughed with us
And our silly comments
Or those afterschool events
Where the teacher's top students
Are taught how to lead
Whether close friends or those distant
The memories reveal
They show the best of times
And the worst of times
They make you who you are
Your words are them
