Respect is something that must be earned
It is not given
For have you not learned
That respect is something that can be forgiven
Be polite, be kind
Show respect when you speak
Respect is hard to find
But without it you are weak
Be courteous and quiet
To those around you
Be polite to those on a diet
And to those whose words are not true
Respect must be earned from people
But always be respectful to them
Whether you are sitting under a steeple
Or helping someone pick a plum
