Every moment that passes
Is another moment in the past
It is gone
Yet it is never too far
We try to preserve each special moment
By taking photos, sketching, or writing
But the real moment is stored in our minds
With feelings, voices, and sight
Some of them are painful
And digging them up hurts as much as the actual moment
Others make us sad
And tears pour down our faces as we remember them
And still more make us happy
Laughter echoing in our minds as we relive them in our brains
Not every moment that you keep
Is on paper or on film
Not every moment remembered
Is one you want to keep
But you remember them for a reason
And who knows that that might be
Just be glad that you can remember
Or else everything would be lost in the past
