The Mountain

A mountain stands alone

Overlooking the quiet forest

Her peak kisses the clouds

But loneliness makes her hide her face

Alone she rests for days and years

Until a small tree begins to grow

He stretches up and his crown rests across from the mountain

Swaying slightly in the wind

The tree bows his head to the mountain

And the mountain uncovers her face

The tree reaches for her

And the wind blows a beautiful leaf from one of his branches

It rests on the mountain's shoulder

And she regains her majesty

The mountain and the tree still rest in the land

Protecting it and guarding their home
