I just remembered why I don't go to the gym, my whole body hurts and I feel so sweaty and gross. My mom has been begging me for months to go to the gym with her and I resisted.  Even though I feel disgusting, I'm glad I finally went. I really needed to blow off some steam after dealing with that Trevor guy. The way he talked to me was so cringy. Who talks like that? Doll face, sweet thing... minx. Eww!

After the gym we headed home and I was hoping that Blaise and his friends weren't going to be outside. I don't think I can handle anymore of Trevor's nicknames tonight.

When we pulled into the driveway ,there was no one out front and I was instantly relieved.

"Mom, mind if I shower first?"

"No go ahead."

After I got out of the shower I threw on a pair of cotton shorts and a tank top. I ran a brush through my hair and did a loose braid to one side.  I stopped to check myself out in my full length mirror.  I turned sideways to look at my figure. I don't hate my body, but I could definitely use a few more trips to the gym.

I heard people talking out back as I was walking downstairs so I followed the voices. My mom was out back sitting on the deck railing talking to Hunter across the fence.

They do this a lot. I don't know why she just doesn't go over there or he come over here. I still think there's something going on between them. This is an everyday thing for them.

I walked out back, mostly because I'm nosy and because I'm bored and want to mess with my mom.

" Hey kid."

" Hey hunter."

" How was the gym?"

" Brutal."

Hunter chuckled.

"Do you ever go?" I asked hopping up on the deck railing.

"Yeah, Blaise and I go a couple of times a week."

That would explain Blaise's six pack.

I see an opportunity to tease my mom and I take it.

"You know Hunter, my mom has been looking for a work out buddy."

The look my mom just shot me made me snicker under my breath.

"Oh yeah?" Hunter said raising an eyebrow.

"Don't listen to her. River decided tonight that she's going to go with me from now on."

She smiled at me letting me know that she really will be making me go to the gym now.

Crap, I guess I walked into that one.

"Good for you Riv. You thinking of playing any sports in high school?" Hunter asked taking a sip of his beer.

"Me, sports? Yeah I don't know about that."

"Come on, you've got the height for basketball, you'd probably be good at volleyball too."

"Sports aren't really my thing."

"Riv, I think Hunter is on to something here, you could go to a sports camp this summer.  That would give you plenty of time to practice before school tryouts."

"Mom, again with the camp stuff?"

"Its' just an idea Riv."

"I'll think about it." I said, just to get her off my back. There was no way in hell I was going to any type of summer camp this year.

"I really think you would like it River, being apart of a team and hanging out with your teammates. Like Blaise and those knuckle heads up stairs, they have been playing sports together for years. Those three are thick as thieves." Hunter said.
