Chapter 10- Blaise

When Sarah came out of the shed not carrying any chairs I knew she was in there giving River a hard time. Sarah sat down and took her phone out, probably texting one of her bitchy friends. I looked over at Trevor who was distracted by James and Amberlee so I got up to go help River.
When I stepped into the shed River was sitting in one of the chairs and looked lost in thought.

"Hey." I said.

River jumped, clearly I startled her.

"God! Don't do that!"

"Sorry. Everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Need some help?"

"Yeah, thanks."

We started stacking chairs to carry out.

"Hey Blaise, I hope this doesn't come out wrong ,or weird. It's just that, I've heard it a few times now so I figured I should just ask you straight out."

"What's that?"

"You don't have feelings for me do you?"

SHIT! What do I do? Do I just keep denying it? Do I fess up and piss Trevor off? Screw this, I'm telling her.

"River... I uh..."

"River? Everything okay in here?" Trevor stepped in the doorway staring a hole right through me.

"Yeah, We're good." She said sweetly.

"So I see. Here let me and Blaise get these, Your friends are waiting for you out there."

River Looked at me apologetically and left the shed.
"I thought we agreed earlier that you were going to back off."

"I wasn't going to say anything." I lied, knowing full well that I absolutely about to tell her.

"Sarah said some shit to her, I'll talk to her."

"You do that. And Blaise, please remind our dear friend Sarah that I will completely destroy her if she messes with River again."

Trevor walked out carrying a whole stack of chairs, show off.

I finally emerged from the shed and James was standing outside waiting for me.

"Everything cool man?"

"Yeah." I sighed.

"So, are you gonna tell her?"

"I've tried a million times. But look at her,she likes him."

"Blaise we both know that you are the better guy for her."

"Better guy for who?" Amberlee said rounding the corner.

"No one." James and I both said.

"Uh huh. Spill it."

James looked at me and then over to the fire pit where River was sitting in Trevor's lap.

"It's nothing. Come on guys, let's go be social before someone gets suspicious." I said trying to throw her off.

"I'm already suspicious." Amberlee said looking at both James and I.

The rest of the night went fairly smoothly everyone just sat around talking and trading stories. Jose was actually a pretty cool guy, and River was right about him and Lennox. They seemed to be hitting it off pretty well. James and Amberlee flirted pretty much all night and I thought I overheard them make plans to hang out alone. Sarah had her face in her phone all night as usual, I finally got sick of her and sent her home.
