"I don't understand why we have to dress up to go eat dinner at someone's house." Lennox said pulling at her skirt.
She had to wear one of my mom's work skirts because mine were too big on her.
"I eat dinner here all the time and you've never made me dress up." She pouted.
Mom laughed. "It's just polite. You can't go to dinner at someone like Bianca's house, wearing ripped up blue jeans and combat boots."
"Then tell her to come here." Lennox said sighing.
"I'll tell you what, go grab a pair of jeans and as soon as dinner is over you can put them on." Mom said smiling.
"Thank you!" Lennox said running up the stairs.
"We really need to take her clothes shopping to expand her wardrobe." mom said when Lennox was out of ear shot.
"Good luck." I laughed. " She's only going to pick more band shirts and jeans."
"And that's fine, if that's her style, but she still needs a few nice outfits for court and for situations like this." mom sighed.
"Got em." Lennox walked into the kitchen holding her distressed jeans. "Lets eat fast so I can take this torture device off." She said pulling the skirt down lower.
We went out front where Blaise was sitting on the porch wearing a pair of khakis and a polo shirt. He had my guitar in one hand and his in a case on the ground.
He stood up from the steps to move out of our way and took one look at how miserable Lennox was in a skirt. He was about to make a comment when Lennox took a step closer to him, balled her fists up and said, " What ever you are about to say, I'd think twice."
"Chill! I was only going to say that you all look very nice tonight." Blaise said trying his hardest not to laugh.
"Yeah well, you look like Jake from the State Farm commercial." Lennox said walking to the car followed by "SHOTGUN." As she jumped into the front seat.
When we pulled up to the front gate at Trevor's house I told my mom the code to punch in. Blaise shot me a funny look.
"What?" I asked.
"You have your own code for the gate?"
"Trevor texted me a code earlier." I said shrugging my shoulders. "Why?"
I've been coming here since I was 7 and I still have to hit the call button to be buzzed in.
"Oh." Was all I could think to say, He just shook his head.
When we pulled up to the house Lennox's face was priceless.
" DANG! Trevor is big rich." She said inspecting the outside of the house. "I bet they have like a full house staff and everything."
"They do." I said from the back seat.
"Like cooks and everything?" Mom asked looking at me in the rear view mirror.
I nodded my head. They knew his family had money but I don't think they expected this.
Trevor greeted us at the door and escorted us to the formal sitting area. A women came in and offered my mother a glass of wine, which she gladly accepted. While we were waiting for Bianca, Trevor took us on a tour of the house. Well, Lennox and my mom, since Blaise and I were already familiar with the house. We tagged along though.
After the tour we headed to the dining room. Bianca had the table set and even had little place cards with our names written on them. She had assigned me the seat next to Trevor and she assigned Blaise and Lennox the seats across the table from us. I'm not surprised that she set it up this way but I was half tempted to move mine over to sit next to Lennox, but I didn't want to offend anyone. My mom's place card was at the end of the table opposite of Bianca.
