I was beyond pissed off at Trevor for the little stunt he pulled. I wanted to kick his ass, but I couldn't even react because we were surrounded by family and friends.

River and I had finally made our relationship official and things were great and then here he comes with his bullshit once again. River was pretty pissed off too but I had a hard time figuring out whether she was pissed at herself or Trevor. I knew she had feelings for him but until I watched them together I hadn't realized just how strong those feelings were.

To be fair, I don't think she knew either. Something happens between those two when they sing together, as her boyfriend, it's hard to watch.

By the time we got to the beach to watch the fireworks I was mostly calmed down. All of my anger had been replaced with fear. I was afraid that she would eventually change her mind about us and go running to Trevor. That is until my dad pulled me aside and told me to pull myself together.

He told me I had two choices, I could break it off with River now, walk away and cut my losses or I could let everything that happened go and continue to be with the girl I've been after all summer. He told me that if I chose to stay with her, to do it without reservation otherwise we would both regret it later.

He was right, River had already picked up on the fact that I seemed to be distancing myself.

After talking to my dad I went straight over to River and pulled her into a hug. I kissed the tip of her nose, just like I always do and then we sat in the sand and watched the fireworks.

By the end of the night we slipped right back into our usual routine. We went home and laid on her trampoline for a while talking and staring at the stars until Savannah made her go inside. It was our first 4th of July together and even though it started off rocky, It ended pretty great.

She spent the rest of the weekend with her grandparents before they left on Sunday. We texted back and forth and she snuck over a few times, making excuses to run back to her moms to grab stupid things like a sweatshirt or body spray. We always met out back and Lennox was our look out, she would give us a heads up if any parents were headed our way.

On Monday she started back at the kickboxing studio with Elijah. Everyday when she got home we would spend an hour on karate as well. We hadn't heard a peep from Sarah or Sasha in quite a while but I didn't want her to let her guard down.

We even started going back to the gym with our parents. I needed to start getting ready for football and she was convinced that her thighs were jiggly. They weren't ,but no matter how much I tried to convince her that she was perfect, she didn't believe me.

We had both successfully avoided Trevor since the BBQ and it hadn't gone unnoticed how much more peaceful it was without him around. We had heard a rumor that he was seen at the county fair with a red haired girl. Neither of us cared enough to investigate, at least I didn't. I wish he would move on though, it would definitely make things easier for everyone.

Since I'm heading to the beach on Friday to spend the weekend with my grandparents, River and I are having a date night tonight, with just the two of us. I was surprised that Nathan agreed to let us be alone together, Savannah must have finally had that talk with him. Of course we had to promise that we wouldn't go to make out beach.

Neither of us really felt like going out so we decided to order some pizza and binge watch as many episodes as we could of the new season of Stranger things. Nathan let us set up the projector at his house so we could swim in the pool while we watched.

Mostly I think it was because he had cameras in his backyard and he could check the live feed from his cell phone whenever he wanted.

"This was a great idea." River said climbing up on a raft. "We need a floating table with cup holders though. Can you hand me a slice of pizza?"
