Trevor was late picking Blaise and I up the next morning, which was not like him. He seemed to be in a bad mood. I climbed into the backseat and let Blaise sit up front since his legs are so long.

Obviously I didn't mean anything by it but Trevor still took offense to it. I'm not sure what Bianca needed to talk to him about last night but it clearly still has him upset up. Every once in a while he would glance at me in the rear view mirror with.

"Ok. What is the matter?" I said leaning forward.

"It's nothing." He said punching the code to the gate in.

"Then why do you keep looking at me like you think I'm going to disappear or something."

"You might." He sighed.

"Seriously Trevor, what is going on?"

"Just come inside and I'll explain."

"This doesn't have anything to do with Lennox's case does it?" I ask suddenly worried that Bianca may have gotten some bad news.

"No, It's not about Lennox, it has to do with your mom." He said, tightening his jaw.

"My mom?" I asked confused.

I looked to Blaise for answers but he only shrugged his shoulders.

" I don't know what's going on either Riv."

I relaxed a little because I knew my mom was fine, she left for work right before Trevor came to pick us up. She was in a good mood this morning and was excited about having a real artist hear one of her songs.

Trevor led us into the kitchen where Bianca had a full breakfast waiting for us. I was surprised to see Spears sitting at the table. I knew he was coming today to close on his new house but I didn't think that was until later.

"Hey kiddo." He smiled up at me.

" Good morning, How was your flight?" I asked.

"I caught the red eye last night after I spoke to Bianca, so I'm a little tired but I'll survive." He said sipping his coffee.

"It's been a minute since I've seen you man, how ya been?" He stood up to shake Blaise's hand. "How's your daddy doing?"

" He's good."

" Hey, does he still make furniture? I'm gonna need some chairs for my front porch."

"He does actually, you should stop by sometime. He has a few in the garage that are for sale."

"Even better." Spears smiles.

" Hey, do you boys mind giving River and I a few moments to talk alone?"

"I'm not going anywhere." Trevor said moving to stand directly behind my chair.

Always my protector, but why would I need protection from Spears?

"Trevor I'm fine." I turned to look up at him

"River, I'm not leaving." He stood his ground.

"Fine. At least take a seat then, Blaise you might as well sit too. Go ahead and make yourself a plate, we can talk and eat." Spears said.

I was getting nervous because Spears and Trevor kept exchanging looks and I was half waiting for Trevor to jump over the table and tackle Spears.

"Where's Bianca?" I asked thinking we may need a referee at some point.

"She's at the courthouse." Trevor said. " She's filing that paperwork for your mom and Lennox."

"Oh, Right." I said taking a bite of my pancakes.
