I've practically been held hostage by Lennox and Amberlee all day. They wouldn't let me go near the windows or out back. The only time I was allowed outside today was this morning when we bumped into Elijah at Ihop.
He was sitting at a table by himself and my mom invited him to come sit with us. He really is such a nice guy. My mom liked him so much that she invited him to come back to our house to hang out for a bit. Lennox and Amberlee seemed to like him too. I suggested we ask him to hang out with us more so he gets to know more people before school starts. I was the new kid last year and I know how rough that can be.
Amberlee has been in my closet trying to put together an outfit for me for the past 10 minutes. I have no idea what Blaise has planned for tonight so I don't know what to wear. But apparently Amberlee and Lennox know every detail of Blaise's plan.
I was laying on my bed petting my dog when Amberlee finally emerged from the closet holding some clothes.
A pair of black distressed skinny jeans and a light blue top that is the same ice blue color as my eyes. She went back into the closet and came out with my black slip on vans with the sparkly soles. Usually she puts me in a skirt or a dress, so this combination has me a little confused.
"What exactly will I be doing on this non- date? This isn't what you would normally choose for me."
"Riv you know I can't tell you. You just need to dress cute but comfortable. Trust me, this is perfect." She smiled.
"I guess I don't have a choice, you know more about my date then I do."
" Non- date." She corrected me with a smile.
" You know what I meant."
" River, are you sure you just want to be friends with him? He's a great guy!"
"Amb, We've been through this already, I can't date him. I will not be the reason him and Trevor's friendship ends. "
" Ugh! I know." she crossed her arms and plopped down on the bed. "This sucks."
"Agreed." I said as I got dressed. I sat down at my makeup table and ran the flat iron through my hair one last time to makes sure I got all of the waves out. There was a knock at the door and my mom walked in.
" Riv, I'm headed out with Hunter."
"K. Try not to get too drunk mother."
" Yes dear." She laughed. "And you and Blaise keep your hands to yourself."
"Mom!"
Amberlee giggled.
I sat down on the bed with Amberlee and the dog.
"How much longer? I'm getting antsy. I need some fresh air."
She checked her phone. " Any minute now." She smiled.
Suddenly we heard really loud music coming from the front of the house. I recognized the song right away.
I headed for the stairs but Amberlee stopped me and told me to go look out of the bathroom window first. Confused, I went into the bathroom and pulled the blinds up.
There in my front yard stood Blaise, looking hot as hell in a tighter than usual black shirt and blue jeans. He was holding a speaker over his head that was playing "In your eyes". He was recreating my favorite scene from the movie Say Anything. My heart melted instantly.
I turned to look at Amberlee with tears in my eyes and she was grinning from ear to ear. She joined me at the window. "He's good." She said smiling.
