Chapter 20- Blaise

It's been a busy couple days but it's finally Saturday and I have a lot to do today to get ready for my non- date tonight with River. Yesterday while Amberlee and Lennox were over at River's I was able to enlist their help. I had Lennox cover her bedroom windows with black paper so she can't see out back and Amberlee is going to stay most of today to make sure that River doesn't come outside at all.

River came over Thursday night to play video games and to give the guitar another try and I was able to pick her brain a little more about her favorite 80's movies.

I just hope my plan comes together as well as I see it in my head. I even made a playlist with all of the songs from her favorite 80's movies. I have everything completely thought out. Now that this a just a non-date between two friends it does seem like a bit much, but I don't care.

When she told me that she just wanted to be friends It sucked......bad. But then I thought, some of the best relationships come from friendships. If that's what she needs me to be right now then so be it. I'll be whatever she wants me to be.

I had a few hours to kill before I could start setting up so I decided to text James to see if he wanted to come over. I was nervous as hell and needed a distraction.

Hey man, WYD?
James: Nothing, what up?
Wanna come over for a few hours? Play basketball or something?
James: Yeah, give me like 15 mins... I'll be there.
Ok.

I decided to go sit out front and wait for James since it was so nice out. When I opened the front door there was a jacked up black truck parked in front of River's house. The door to the truck opened and Elijah stepped out.

What's he doing here? He was carrying a cup carrier with 4 drinks and one in his hand. He nodded at me before walking up to River's house and knocked on the door. Savannah opened the door. " Hey Elijah! Come on in."

What the hell? How does Savannah know Elijah?
I'm half tempted to text Trevor and find out what he knows about this guy but I know that will only start a fight between him and River and I don't want that. I tried looking him up on Instagram but either he doesn't have one or he uses a different user name. James walked up as Was scrolling through my phone.

" What's up bro?"

"Have you met Elijah yet?" I asked looking up from my phone.

"Who?"

"River's Kickboxing instructor. That's his truck." I said pointing.

" Oh. No. What's he doing here?"

"No clue, he just pulled up with drinks and went inside."

" Maybe he's dating Savannah." He said  shrugging his shoulders.

" He's a Junior In High School." I said laughing.

"Oh. oohhhhhhhh. You don't think he's dating River do you? That would suck. First Trevor now this guy."

" I doubt that. She just met him a few days ago."

" Want me to text Amberlee and ask?"

" Nah. Well yeah.. But later. Let's go shoot some hoops."

We walked to the elementary school out back and while we played basketball James filled me in on his recent dates with Amberlee.

They have went out a couple of times now. They even went out on a double date with Lennox and Jose. I wish River and I could do things like that. I suppose we still could even if we are just friends.

He told me that Trevor has texted him a few times asking how things were going with me and River. James told him that he didn't know but that River and I had a date tonight. I'm half expecting Trevor to show up tonight and try to ruin it. He still doesn't know that River put us both in the friend zone.
