Chapter 13: Friendly with Aki

- Takami's POV - 

At School

"Good morning, Takami and Sachie." Two parallel of guys formed in front of the school. 

"Good morning," I said elegantly. 

"Good morning, guys!" Sachie put her fist in the air. 

A limousine pulled up in front of the school. Akane came out of the limo and was shocked. "Oh my god, I didn't know I could get this greeting." Once Sachie and I entered the school, the lines dispersed. Cross-popping veins appeared on Akane's forehead. "Are you kidding me!" 

In the Classroom

Akane angrily stormed into the room and walked up to us. "What's so good about you guys!"

"What are you talking about?" I asked. 

"The boys made two lines for you guys to walk in between! I was nominated for Miss World Japan!" 

"The difference between us is that we're nice," I realized what I said and quickly closed my mouth. 

Akane was speechless. "Ugh, whatever." 

"Damn, Takami, you really told her." Sachie smiled. 

I put my hands down. "I didn't mean to, it just came out." 

"Well, Akane needs to be nicer anyway." Aki walked up to us and put his bag on his desk. "When we were little, she used to ride on top of me." 

"Ride on top of you?" Sachie and I tilted our heads. 

"It was horrible." Aki started to shiver. 

Sachie looked out the window and didn't see the sun out. "Oh my god! I just remembered it's almost the Moon Watching!" 

"Moon Watching?" Aki tilted his head. 

"Oh yeah, you haven't been to our moon watching, have you?" I looked at him. 

"Welp, it's a night where we all get to stay at school late and watch the full moon," Sachie told him. "There's even a legend where if you kiss your crush, you'll be together forever." 

"That's pretty corny," Aki said. 

"Last year, our class weren't able to go because our class accidentally blew up the bathroom." I chuckled. 

"It's not funny, Takami! We were only doing bathroom justice. The bathroom was so disgusting!" Sachie stood on top of her desk proud. 

I shook my head. "Oh my god, the horrible memories." 

"The bathroom actually blew up?" Aki was so confused. 

I giggled, "Yeah, we were using chemicals." 

Sachie sighed. "It would've worked if I didn't dump all the chemicals down the drain." 

Aki was even more confused. 

"You don't have to get it. It's pretty weird." I smiled. 

Ms. Ono walked into the room. "Good morning, class." 

"Good morning, Ms. Ono." Everyone in the class said in unison.

"Big news, the Moon Watching is coming up. I'll be passing out the handouts." Ms. Ono passed the handouts. 

I got the handout from Sachie's hand. "I can't wait to watch the moon with you guys." I smiled.

"It's gonna be fun." Aki smiled. 

"Oooh, it's at Ueno Park." 

During Lunch

"Only a week away from the full moon." Sachie put her hands behind her head as we walked to the gymnasium.

"My old school in Kami-Shirataki never had this event," Aki said.

"That's pretty sad." Sachie closed her eyes.

"Now that you're here, we can watch it together." I smiled.

"Together?" Aki asked.

"Yeah..." I put my hands together and looked up at the sky. "...and we'll be sitting in the perfect spot where the moon is shining on top of us." I smiled in excitement.

"Damn, you've planned this through," Sachie smirked.

I blushed. "Well, it is Aki's first time at the Moon Watching and I just want it to be perfect."

"You don't have to worry about me." Aki put his arm around my neck. "Besides, you guys are going, it's gonna be fun no matter what."

I blushed harder. "Yeah, I agree."

Sachie sighed happily. "Just looking at you two makes me think you guys are a couple."

Aki and I looked at each other for a second and split apart.

"You're just imagining things." I awkwardly giggled.

In the Gymnasium

Sachie and I walked over to the bleachers. I started to look at Aki.

"Takami, you're staring," Sachie whispered in my ear.

"Why do you think Aki moved back to Hakata?" I asked.

"Didn't he say he came back because his father passed away?" Sachie stared at Junto.

"Yeah, but I feel like there's more to it." I looked up at the ceiling.

"Don't worry about it too much. What's important is that he's here now." Sachie came closer to me and smirked. "And he's yours for the taking."

I blushed. "No, he's not..." I looked at the ground and then at Aki. "I doubt he even likes me."

"Are you kidding? He put your arm around you when we were coming here. That's a sign to me."

I thought about it. "I mean we are childhood friends."

Sachie stood up from the bleachers. "Why are you denying the fact that he might like you?" She asked. "Don't you want to go out with him?"

I continued to look at Aki. "Yeah, but... I don't wanna remember the relationship we have now."

Sachie sighed and sat back down. "You're so cliche."

"But it's true."

"Wowww! Junto! Haru! Aki!" The girls at the entrance yelled.

Sachie and I looked over at them. "Wow, Aki is becoming popular now." She turned around and saw me pouting. "You okay?"

"I can't believe Aki is popular!"

"I mean what did you expect? You're the popular kid who fell in love with a guy. Obviously, that guy would be popular as well."

I closed my eyes tightly. "I don't want him to be taken away from me."

"Who's him?" 

I looked up and saw Junto next to me. I scaredly jumped and slid over to Sachie. "Oh, you know... um... you know... yeah..." I quickly got up and exited the gymnasium. 

"You know what she said?" Junto looked at Sachie. 

Sachie responded. "Uh... no."
