Chapter 33: Fukuoka High School

- Takami's POV -

Flashback

At the Gymnasium

"What school did you guys get into?" I put my hands on my waist. "I got into Fukuoka High School."

Junto, in his wheelchair, looked at his phone. "I got into Hiroshima Kenritsu High School."

"But that's almost an hour away." Sachie looked at him sadly.

He took a deep breath. "I mean, my grandparents live over there so it should be fine."

Sachie looked at Haru's phone and smiled. "Haru and I both got into Gakuen High School."

"Wow, I can't believe we actually going to different high schools." I looked down at the floor.

"It's gonna be really hard to make friends, especially since we're going to a new school in the middle of the year." Sachie put her arm around Haru.

"We'll still keep in contact, right?" Tears filled my eyes.

Junto giggled. "You're getting way too emotional. We'll definitely see each other in the future."

Back to the Present

In My Room

I looked at myself in the mirror with my new school uniform. "Wow, this school uniform is cute." I started to walk out until I saw the photograph of Aki and I. My eyes closed shut. "I need to stop..." I smiled. "My smile will be preserved." I walked downstairs and saw my mom making breakfast. "Hey, Mom."

She turned around from the stove and looked at me. "Aww, the uniform looks great on you." She walked over to me and touched my shoulders.

"I know." I looked down at my uniform and then at her. "But I'm really nervous about going to a new school."

"Everyone is nervous on their first day. Don't worry about it." Mom gave me a hug. "You'll be fine."

"Thanks, Mom, I should probably go now." I got my bag and headed out the door.

"What about breakfast?" She asked.

"Don't need any today." I closed the front door.

"You ready?" Sachie took out her phone while waiting for me.

I rubbed my eyes because I knew Sachie wasn't in front of my house. Once I finished rubbing my eyes, she disappeared. My heart ached, knowing that this is the start of my new life. I hate change.

At Fukuoka High School

I held onto my school bag in front of the entrance and gulped. "Dang, this school's big. They even have a school dorm?!?!"

Kiyoshi walked up to me from outside of the school. "Yeah, but they're super expensive."

"You waited for me out here?" I asked.

"What? Why would you think that?" He crossed his arms and looked the other way.

"Because I saw you pacing in front of the school a couple of blocks down." I pointed at the block I saw him at.

He awkwardly giggled. "It was just a coincidence."

I giggled. "Sure, it was," I said sarcastically. "You just need some exercise."

"Exactly, thank you." Kiyoshi walked into the school and I followed.

"That's pretty cute." I smiled.

He blushed and tried to cover it up with his arm. "You know that boys don't like being called cute, right?"

I blinked twice. "Really? Then, what's another word? Charming? Attractive?"

He blushed even harder and walked a lot faster. "Let's just keep walking."

"Huh? What did I say?" I quickly caught up to him.

In the Classroom

"Hello, my name is Takami Hirota. Unfortunately, my old school was shut down, making me transfer here. I hope we could all get along." I bowed down and closed my eyes.

"Oh my god! It's a girl!" One of the boys in the classroom shouted.

"She's so pretty." Another one whispered.

"Wow, how is her hair that smooth?" One of the girls asked.

I sweat-dropped. "Uh...?" 

"Takami, I'm Ms. Kita. You don't have to feel awkward; we are all very nice people." She smiled at me. "Why don't you take your seat in the back?" 

I walked to the back and sat at a desk near the window, just like in Hakata Seisho. Suddenly, I heard someone snoring to my right. I smiled, reminding me of Aki. I want to wake him up, but I probably don't want to make an enemy on the first day of school. He yawned and I realized it was Kiyoshi. I started to poke him. "Kiyoshi?" I tilted my head. 

He slowly opened his eyes. "Takami? Takami!" He woke up too fast that he fell behind on his chair. 

"Oh my god, are you okay?" I got up from my seat and looked above him. 

He giggled. "Yeah, I'm fine, just shocked."
