- Akihiro's POV -
I opened my eyes and saw the sunlight beaming directly in my face. "So today's the day, huh?" I got up from my bed and went downstairs with my bed hair. "Hey, grandma." I yawned.
"How was your sleep, Akihiro?" My grandma continued to cook on the stove.
"Good." I walked up to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Today's the day you move back to Kami-Shirataki, right?" She placed the omelet onto the place and handed it to me.
"Yeah, it's gonna be really sad that I'm moving back there." I put the omelet on the table and sat down.
My grandma walked up to me. "I know you don't want to go back there, but it's your responsibility to help around the company after your father died. You can't run away from your problems forever." She kissed me on the forehead.
"Yeah, I know. Thanks, grandma." I put my hands together and closed my eyes. "Thank you for the food."
"If you need me, I'll be at the senior center." She grabbed her bag and left the house.
I opened my phone and looked up any news regarding the school. "Thank god, my older brother didn't do anything yet." I finished my omelet and went back upstairs to change into my school uniform. As I was changing, I looked at a photo of me and Takami when we were little. "It's just like the last time... when I left... and when it tore me apart a bit." I smacked my face lightly. "Why am I thinking about this now? Today's my last day, I should be happy."
At School
I entered the classroom and saw Takami and Sachie talking. "What you guys talking about?" I walked closer to them.
"Just how much Junto looks in a kimono." Sachie squealed and show me the photo.
"And why is he wearing a kimono?" I asked as I sat down in my seat.
"The Cherry Blossom Festival is coming up and we have to dress fancy." Takami looked at Sachie and then at me with a smile.
"About that... Can I talk to you after class?" I looked at Takami sadly.
"Sure," Sachie replied.
"Um... alone."
"Pfft, buzz kill." She faced the front of the room while pouting.
"Sure." Takami smiled.
"Everyone take your seats." Ms. Ono entered the room. "Please take out your Physics workbooks."
I took out my Physics workbook and looked over at Takami. Today is gonna be the last day I see her next to me. Please let time go slower.
Bell Rings
"Okay, everyone, the class is over." Ms. Ono took her stuff and left the classroom.
"What! The class just started?!?!" I yelled.
"No... it's been 45 minutes." Takami pointed out.
"No... it's been a minute." I pointed out back to her.
"So now that the class is over," She got up from her seat. "So what did you want to talk about?"
At the Roof
Takami put her hair behind her ear as the wind blew her hair.
I closed my eyes tightly to get my head to think straight. Once I opened my eyes, I saw pigs flying around Takami. "What the...?"
"What? Is there a flying pig on top of me?" She started to look around her surroundings, but for some reason she couldn't see them.
"Um... no... no flying pigs...?" I tilted my head to look at the pigs closely. "Never mind... um... I just wanted to tell you that I'll be leaving tonight."
Tears ran down Takami's face. "Why...? I wanted to spend more time with you."
"I have to go help my family's company." I walked up to Takami and gave her a hug. "Don't worry, I'll come back some day."
Tears continued to run down her face. "Please don't leave me."
At the Train Station
I held onto my suitcase and looked at Haru, Sachie, Junto, and Takami in front of me. "I guess this is it."
"You know it was fun having you around." Haru put his arm around my neck.
"It's gonna be really weird when you're not in class." Sachie started to cry.
"We can come visit, right?" Junto held out a fist for a fist bump.
I bumped his fist and smiled. "Probably not, I'm gonna be really busy once I got back to the company." I looked at Takami making a depressed face. "I'll be back soon than you know it."
Takami sad smiled. "I'll be waiting."
Train Comes
"You're gonna miss him a lot, huh?" Junto slapped Takami's back.
Takami walked forward trying to gain balance, but she didn't gain balance in time. The train was coming and Takami still hadn't gotten up from the tracks.
"Takami!!!" We all ran over to her and tried to pull her up.
As the train got closer, the lights got brighter.
"Takami!!!"
Back to the Present
In My Room
I huffed and puffed with sweat all over me while laying in bed. My arm covered my eyes and I couldn't see anything. "What was that dream about?" I got up from bed and walked downstairs to see my grandma making me an omelet again. "Hey, grandma."
"Hey, Akihiro, are you gonna go to school today to say goodbye to your friends?" She continued to focus on the omelet.
Flashback
As the train got closer, the lights got brighter.
"Takami!!!"
Back to the Present
"Probably not, I'm leaving at 1 PM anyways." I sat down at the table as my grandma plated the omelet.
"Did you tell your friends you were leaving?" She put the equipment in the sink.
"Not Takami though." I put my hands together. "Thank you for the food."
"Why not? Takami would be really upset if she realized she wasn't gonna see you again."
"Grandma, I had a dream. Takami got hit by a train because I told her that I was leaving. I don't want that to actually happen." I took a bite of the omelet.
"You're just paranoid." My grandma grabbed her purse.
"This is a sign."
She shook her head. "It's your choice if you tell her or not."
"I've made up my mind. I just gonna leave silently."
