Chapter 13

Its been a couple of weeks that Finn and Millie had hung out. When everyone saw that they were actually talking without yelling at each other or without giving each other death glares people obviously knew something was going on between them. The rumors started off that they are dating, they're boyfriend and girlfriend or they are friends with benefits. Obviously Finn and Millie and their friend group knew that neither one of them were true but people didn't know that. The rumors still kept going around the school since Iris made sure to keep them going saying that Millie was the reason why Finn to broke up with her. She made sure that everyone thought of her as a slut and man stealer. Millie knew what Iris was doing but she tried to not let it get to her. 

People were starting to figure out that the rumors aren't real since everyday Iris would come up with something new that wouldn't relate to the rumor from yesterday or last week. By the time December came everyone was tired of hearing the fake rumors that she was spreading around. Millie was glad that people weren't believing her but Iris was furious so she came up with a plan to make sure to get back at Millie. Millie didn't know why Iris hated her so much, they were actually friends in elementary but after she started to become rich and her father was becoming well known she just changed. 

"Hey mills" said Finn leaning against the locker

"Oh hey Finn" said Millie with a smile

"I need your help with something"

"Okay what is it?"

"Just come to my house after school but go through the back gate" said Finn before walking away. After Finn left Millie stood there confused for a sec but then she closed her locker and walked to her next class.

As she sat down she could hear Loren Gray, Iris best friend, gossiping but soon stopped when she saw Millie. 

"Did you hear about how she stole her boyfriend. I bet she payed him or black mailed him or something for him to actually hang out with her. How pathetic." whispered Loren but made sure she was still able to hear as she was just sitting a couple desk in front of them.

Millie tried to ignore them but throughout the period they would whisper to each other things about her. They would judge what she's wearing, say that she sleeps with guys, etc. When the bell rang Millie was the first one to get out of class making Loren smirk and feeling accomplished by making her feel down.

Millie went inside the restroom and was glad that no one else was in there. She dropped her bag by her side as she grabbed the side of the sink with both her hands. She looked at herself in the mirror and she could see the old her coming back. She could feel her eyes begin to water and once that first tear broke free, the rest followed in an unbroken stream. She turned so her back was hitting the bathroom wall and slid down the floor. All it took was for that moment to make her feel like the world was crashing down on her.

After school Millie went to Finn's house as he had told her to. She went through the back gate confused as to what he needed help with. She saw a figure in the distance knowing it was Finn by his curls so she continued walking but stopped when another figure came into view. Iris made her way to him putting his hands around his neck. Finn couldn't see Millie since his back was facing her but Iris saw her so she kissed Finn by surprise. Millie still didn't understand why Iris keeps doing that as id it's going to make Millie jealous. Millie approached them she stood a couple feet apart and cleared her throat grabbing their attention. 

"Oh hi Millie strange seeing you here." said Iris as she let go of Finn

"Yeah. I could say the same to you" replied Millie as she received a glare from Iris. When Finn and Iris dated Finn never brought her to his house. You see Finn's parents don't even know that they dated. 

"Well you seem a bit busy so with whatever you needed help with just have Iris help you" said Millie as she turned around and walked away leaving both of them standing there. 

Once Millie got home she heard yelling coming from her fathers office. 

"Miss Millie I think it's best if you don't get involved" said a maid but Millie ignored her as she approached the office.

"Mom? Dad? What's going on?"

"Sweetie it's nothing. Just go to your room"

"No. Tell her the truth! You bastard. She deserves to know" yelled her mother

"Tell me what?"

"It's  nothing just go to your room while your mom and I resolve this." her father said as he closed the door on her. She backed away and did as she was told she went to her room but as she was about to close the door when she heard the yelling increase as it got louder. 

She jumped as she saw Finn in her room. "What are you doing here?" she asked

"I still need your help"

Before she was able to say something back in the distant you could hear something break and a door being slammed right after. She knew that it was something big but she didn't want to make things worse by asking again. 

"Is everything alright?"

"Yeah. It's nothing. It's probably a small thing. My mom always makes it seem like a big deal. She can be a bit dramatic."

"Are you sure?"

"I said it's fine. Okay Finn."

"But-"

"Look if your going to keep questioning me then you should just leave" 

"Sorry. It's just- If there's something going on i'm here for you okay?" said Finn almost making Millie open up to him and tell him everything that's been going on but she didn't.

"Well there's nothing going on so it's best if you just leave."said Millie walking towards the balcony door telling him to leave. Finn left and just like that she closes up again knowing the darkness was slowly consuming her all over again.
