Chapter 26

After 3 days of training, it's finally the day of our game against Denmark. We're on the bus to the stadium. I'm sitting with Alex, and we're listening to our own music. We're getting pumped for it. Once we get to the stadium, there's fans outside. One by one getting off. Once I get off, I follow Alex and all the other girls ahead of us. I see fans with their hands out and I lightly high five them as I walk inside.

We're in the locker rooms, we already did our warm ups and small drill. We're in our kits. I'm in the starting line up again. We're waiting for it to start, so we make our way to the hall. I'm last in line, and I'm holding a girls hand, I look over at her and give her a warm smile. She gives me one back. We start walking. We stand in line for Denmarks anthem, and then ours.

We start the game with US possession. Becky passes it to Kelly. She dribbles it closer to the half field with 2 players on her tail. She kicks it up my flank, I take it and I kick it to Alex. She makes a run for it but the flag is up for offsides. After posession from Denmark, they score in the 21st min of the game.

After Denmark's goal, we lock up our defense. We've volleyed balls in but to be caught by Denmarks keeper. Lindsey has the ball right now, and she's having a tug war with a defender. She pushes back kicking it to Becky. She kicks it long up to Tobin. She netmegs the defender, and she kicks it to Alex and she volleys it in. I run over to her, I jump on her

"That was soo good!!" I yell and we get engulfed by the others. Once we're done celebrating we go to formation. In the 32nd min, Lindsey gets fouled, earning us a free kick. Which I take. Once we set up. I'm in position. The ref blows the whistle, I shoot right into the box and it goes straight into the net. I hold up my index finger, because I'm number one. I run to my nearest teammate, which happened to be Kelly. I jump on her and we celebrate while everyone else hugs us. We go back to formation

We go into half time. We get Jill's talk and we all try to hydrate as much as possible. It's been a hot day. We're all still in the zone, no one talks. Denmark still has possibilites to score, can't get our hopes up.  I'm once again playing all 90 mins.

They blow the whistle and we start the 2nd half. Denmark has the ball right now. I fall back as they make their way down to goal. I try to defend and I'm caught in my own cleat, I end up pushing the defender down with me. It's a foul. They kick it and Julie clears it away. Tobin making a race to the ball with a Denmark defender getting to it quicker. Kicks it back to Denmark player who passed Becky and makes a cross and a Denmark player kicks it in past Alyssa. We're tied 2-2, in the 81st min. I don't want a draw.

Tobin has the ball running down the right flank, crosses it to Alex. She kicks it in, but the goalie punches it out. The ball lands on my feet. I dribble down the middle kicking it straight into the right bottom corner. As I kicked it, I was shoved to the ground. I sit up.

"Hey you okay?" Alex asks me putting her hand on my head. I nod, I get up and I see Tobin and Carli surrounding me. I give them a thumbs up

"I'm good" I tell them.

We ended up winning 3-2. It was a close game.

We shake hands with Denmark's players. I go over to Alex, and I wrap my arms around her neck from behind. She turns her head a little, I wish I could kiss her but we're in public. I let go of her and I walk to Ashlyn

"Ash!" I jump on her back. She catches me.

"You are so heavy" she tells me grunting

"I'm only 5'11 and 167 pounds" I tell her as I playfully squeeze her face cheeks.

"You're 5'11?!" Ashlyn asks me. I laugh at her question. I get off of her. I walk over to Tobin who is currently juggling a ball around. Ball really is life, to Tobin.

"Toby!" I yell over to her, she looks up and gives me smile, she kicks the ball towards me. We juggle it back and forth. We head into the locker rooms. We change out. I have to get to the hotel, for my suitcase. I'm taking a flight to Philadelphia International Airport. I'm not the only one. Carli is coming with me. We head to our buses, when we get to the hotel I grab my suitcase. I packed early this morning. I go to Alex's room

"Hey I'm leaving" I tell her, she looks back at me.

"Tell your sister I said goodluck. I'll miss you Sage, let me know when you get there" she tells me putting her arms around my waist. I wrap my arms around her neck. We hug and she kisses me. It got a little heated. We started making out, but we can't get to carried away. We pull apart

"Won't ever get tired of your lips" I tell her giving her one more peck. I hug her again and I make my way to the door. I close it behind me and I walk to my room.

"I'm gonna miss you buddy!" Kelly tells me, as she hugs me.

"I'm gonna miss you too Kells" I hug her back. We pull apart, I grab my luggage and I head out the door. I walk downstairs to the lobby. Carli isn't down here yet. I wait a few, and I see the Cab pull out outside. I walk outside. He comes out the cab and helps put my luggage in, and Carli comes just in time.

"I had a meeting with Jill" she tells walking over and the cab driver takes her luggage.

"How did it go?" I ask her, I open the door for her. She walks in and scoots over for me. I close the door behind us.

"Pretty good actually, hey You can stay with me by the way" Carli tells me. She's always got me.

"Thanks Carl's, also would you like to come with me and surprise my sister?" I ask her

"Yeah sure Sagey, I haven't been to a high school game in such a long time" she tells me smiling. The ride to the airport was a little long, I ended up taking a short nap. I woke up because Carli was shaking me.

"We're here sagey" Carli tells me. She gets out of from her side. I'm barely waking up. I get out from my side. We take our luggage in, we check It in. We go through TSA and wait for our flight. And hour later, its called and we board.
