Chapter 63

"Mom where do you want me to set this box?"

"In the corner with the kitchen stuff"

I set them aside, and I look round the room. I never thought my parents would move out from my child home but they did. Now they're going to make another home for my kids. They decided to move to Portland, they loved the people and community around us. Of course my mom wanted to move in a few houses down from us. It has its benefits but I'm okay with it. I never spend enough time with them. Mykayla has moved back in with my parents. Scott has found a really good league here, and my dad has also found a much better paying job. My mom has signed herself up to help build parks and she's got a job with the Portland Thorns.

"Hey babe coach pushed practice earlier" Tobin walks into the room, she probably ran from the house to get here. I walk over to her, and she wraps her hands around my waist. I push the strand of hair and tuck it behind her ear.

"Thanks for letting me know babe, I'll go pick up the kids. We got all the boxes in" I tell her, and my mom walks into the room. She smiles at us before she bends down to grab something out of the boxes.

"I can't wait until the 24th, we'll have both our families together. Oh! That reminds me thank you for welcoming my family into your home Mrs. Wilder. Hopefully we'll figure out who will be staying here." Tobin tells my mother, she walks over to us smiling while she folds a table cloth.

"Of course sweetie, you guys are family now." My mom tells Tobin and gently rubs Tobin shoulder, that motherly touch.

Time skip

It's the day before Christmas. Tobin's family is coming today, and it's the first time I've got a chance to meet them. We've figured out who will be staying with who. My mom offered 2 rooms, and I offered 2 rooms also. Since my sister moved out, and I had to move Savannah's bed to Connors for the mean time. One of our couches even turns into a bed, so I think we're good.

I wake up with arms around my waist, and I turn my body facing upward. Tobin snuggles closer to me. Her head in the crook of my neck.

"Hey baby you need to wake up, your parents get here in 2 hours"

She doesn't even make a sound. Then again, we were up last night past our usual. I nudge her awake.

"Honey, we need to change before the kids wake up" I tell her, and I finally get up. I pick up the clothes that were neglected on the floor from the night before. I go to the drawer, to get a shirt and a pair of jeans. I walk to the bathroom for a quick shower, when I'm out. I notice Tobin's gone and she left a letter on the bed.

Went to the airport, also the kids are at your moms. I made breakfast and I put the sheets in the washer

Love Tobin

I look to the bed, and I see a clean sheets. I thought I spent at least 15 mins in the shower. Dang, I'm loosing track of time. I need to get everything ready, for her family. I head downstairs and I see the house is clean to my surprise. Usually there's cleats and dirty socks, and balls around the hallway. I hear nails scratch the wooden floor, Copper and Zeus run to me, and jump. I step back because they are bigger then they were a month or 2 ago. Especially Zeus.

I clean what I can before they get here, including washing the dogs, which we usually do as a family but we were all pretty tired yesterday. We go on family hikes and runs at least 3 times a week. The kids were out like a light by 7 yesterday, it gave Tobin and I time to ourselves. I open the door to our bedroom, and the dogs follow in. I usually put the dogs in one room for a little while so they aren't in their cages but alse not wondering about our house with anyone home.

I head to the the front of the house to close the living room blinds. I grab my keys, and lock the front door. I walk to my parents house, so that we can all get settled down at ours for the welcome party for Tobin's family.

Time Skip

"Oh my gosh, it's so great to finally meet you guys" I tell Tobin's parents and siblings, as they set their things down. I greet each one of them with a hug, and handshake. We settle down, and enjoy each other's company. Tobin's mom, and mine instantly got along. My dad and Tobin's, are outside talking about Tennis and pretty much any other dad sport there is. Tobin, and I sit in the living room with her siblings and mine. Sharing stories of our childhood.

"She was mean Toby! She really told me we had dinosaur bones buried in our backyard. She knew how much I love dinosaurs, so I spent almost an hour digging outside. When I went back to the door, it was locked"

"You were annoying as a child!" I plead causing everyone to laugh. She shook her head smiling.

"Let's not forget that one time I was little, Dad and you were laughing at me. You were teasing me about how disgusting I was for showering naked!" Scott brings up about my dad and I.

"Dude you should have seen you face, you were like "that's how mom taught me" and you started crying.. ugh good times" stories being shared back and forth, how Tobin was sort of a lonely child, and I totally related to that. While along, I was sitting on her left thigh. She hugged me tightly. A smile never leaving he face, I know she's missed her family so much. Knowing she's at her happiest, I just lay back agaisnt her to enjoy the moment.

Katie and Perry, Tobin's mom help make dinner with us Wilder women. Tobin laid back, playing Video games with her brother and mine, along with the kids. When dinner is ready, we set up the table. We had to get more chairs of course. Everyones sitting, and we do a quick small prayer before we feast. I go to the garage, and I grab food for the dogs too. I take a seat in front of Tobin, the kids sit with scott and Mykayla of course. It was the start of a new family, especially for the kids. They've never expected to be part of something so big and important. They are continusly spoiled by their aunts, and grandparents. It makes me emotional even though we haven't had so much time together like a regular family would with their kids but it's still precious time spent.

12:00 AM

"Merry Christmas!" Tobin shouts, and everyone walks around sharing hugs. Her parents bring in the gifts from the guest room for the kids. I have to go to the garage and get the presents  that we're mailed to me from my national teammates. Some of them getting Connor and Savannah christmas gifts. The door of the garage opens, I look up to see Tobin walking to me. She grabs the boxes she can, and we walk back into the house. We do another round, and get what's left. Most or us opened our presents. I got Tobin shoes she's wanted and couple of other things. Everyone got something.. I didn't get anything from Tobin..
