Chapter 57

"So how long have you been together?" He asks me breaking the silence. The girls game is almost over. I don't know how to answer that question.

"Hmm well we have kids" I tell him chuckling. I don't want to tell him how long I've been with Tobin so far. Connor always on que, he comes over.

"Hey mom, who's your friend?" He asks us as he stands between my legs.

"This is-" I look at the man

"Richard" he says and he offers to shake Connors hand. Connor politely takes Richard's hand. He smiles at Connor. He turns around between my legs, he adusts himself with his hands on my knees as he watches his sister. When the games over, Savannah walks over with one of her teammates as they laugh, which is Richard's daughter.

"Mommy we won!" Savannah tells me as she jumps on me. I catch her and I get up and spin her around gently. I put her down and I kiss her forehead

"Proud of you Goldie" I told her. She smiles and she runs over to Tobin. I look back to Richard as he talks to his daughter. He walks her over

"This is Valarie, Valarie this is-"

"Sage" I say as I offer her my hand. She takes it and smiles at me.

"You did awesome out there"

"Thank you Sage" she tells me happily. I nod, and I see Savannah walk over and she starts talking to Valarie.

"This is my new friend" Savannah tells me and I nod pushing her hair back gently. Tobin walks over with Connor on her back. She sets him down and she wraps her hand around my waist.

"Tobin, this is Richard. Valarie's dad" I introduce them. Tobin and Richard shake hands. He looks at Tobin intently, and he smiles at her but for some reason it's not convincing.

"We should have you over for our barbecue sometime, we have one tomorrow after our game. You and Valarie should come." Tobin invites him. We have a game agaisnt Orlando tomorrow at 11 AM so we we decided to have a barbecue with the girls after the game.

"Can we dad?" Valarie looks at her dad with a puppy pout. He looks at her with loving eyes, the kind where it's hard to say no to someone you love. He nods and looks back to Tobin.

"We'll be there" he tells us, Tobin gives him her number and sends him the address and time to come over. They thank us, Savannah hugs Valarie, and they leave the park. Tobin kisses me before she runs off with Savannah and Conner with the ball. Well more like she limps with her boot. I take out my phone and take a picture of them playing with each other and I post it on Instagram. I get up and I run to them. We play together for a while. After a while, Tobin and I lay on the grass as we watch the kids play.

"So how'd you meet Richard? Come here often" she asks me curiously, she puts the Gatorade to her mouth.

"I barely just met him today" I tell her as I reach for a small bag of chips.

"He seemed.. I don't know. Like he's intrested in you. I saw the way he would look at you" she tells me, meeting my eyes. I can't decipher if she's just stating or maybe jealous.

"I doubt he was looking at me in that type of way Tobin. Besides I don't like him and I won't" I tell her reassuring.

"Yet" I hear her mumble to herself quietly but I definitely heard it. I decided not to make this into a big deal. I just shook it off. About 30 mins later, the kids come over and enjoy their chips and drink. When they're done, we pick the stuff up and head to the truck.
