Yesterday was so much fun yet tiring at the same time for me, I think I did enough walking for my entire pregnancy. It was two o'clock in the morning and I just couldn't take my ass to sleep. This has been happening to me ever since everybody went back to their normal lives leaving me to pick the pieces up of mine.

I decided to get up outta bed and head downstairs to fix me some cereal because I was getting hungry while keeping late hours.

I was in the kitchen when I heard a noise at the front door so I turned the lights off and went to check to see what was going on. when I got to my front window all I could see was a shadow, whoever it was had on a black hoodie and I wasn't able to get a good look at the person. From where I was standing I could tell the person was short but that still wasn't a good enough description if I needed to call the cops. I thought about grabbing a knife outta the kitchen, but knowing myself I wouldn't even know what to do with it. I remember Nick brought a bat here a few weeks ago so I went to the closet for it, but before I could go and stand back by the door the person had already got in, which was really crazy to me because my front door was hard to pick.

I started to panic so I shoved myself into the closet because I was terrified, something was telling me to call the police but I was so focused on trying to see who it was. Where I didn't close the door all the way I could see the person lightly walking towards the living room area. From the way they were walking around it was like they've been here before and knew exactly what they were looking for.

They took a flashlight from out of the pocket of the hoodie, shinning it down on the floor. Pressing their foot on it, then bending down removing the plank outta the floorboard. It's obvious it was secret hiding and only one person would know about it, and I know that the one person who knew isn't alive. I slowly slide my way out of the closet without making any sound possible, clicking the light on fast enough to catch whoever it was off guard so they won't try anything.

"Who the fuck are you and why are you in my place." The intruder just kept their head down so I couldn't get a look at them. "ANSWER ME," I got louder because whoever it was didn't wanna speak.

I started walking towards them but that's when I realize it was a guy. Every time I take a step towards him, he would move closer to the front door. "You're not going any place until you tell me why you're in my house."

Finally, he started talking but it was clear to me he was hiding his real voice. "I.., I was sent here to collect something Roddy left here. I just want to collect it and go, I really don't want no trouble, Vanny."

My heart started racing, I almost even forget how to breathe once I heard this stranger call my name. "How do you know my name, who are you? If you tell me who you are I won't call the police, I'll just let you get whatever it is you came for and let you leave." I tried reasoning with him but that wasn't working, so I just walked straight up to him and took the hoodie off. I couldn't believe it, it wasn't even possible for me to believe what I was seeing in front of me. Before I could get the words out he snatched the bat from my weak hands and struck me across my head causing me to fall straight to the ground, blacking out.

Later that morning

I woke up inside a hospital room, and to be honest I really wasn't sure what was going. Everybody was here, Nick, Maci, Jessie, Nathan, and the girls. "Hey guys," I started feeling a pain run across my forehead as I tried sitting up.

"Hey, you have to take your time." Nick came to my side trying to help me sit up. "I came by this morning because I needed that bat, and I met you passed out in your own blood. I got there on time because the doctor said you lost a lot of blood, but I'm happy you're okay now it's just that we didn't hear anything as yet about the babies."

despite being scared only one thing I could remember. "Guys I think Roddy is alive, he's the one who hit me with that bat. I know I sound crazy but I saw him, he broke into the house, he came to get something from under the floorboards and..."

"WHAT! girl you need to get some more rest because you talking crazy right now," Jessie said cutting me off with so much attitude.

Nick gave me a look as if he knew what I was talking about but before he could say anything the door flew open and in walked the doctor. "Hello family, ahh I would like to have a few words with the patient quickly please."
When he said that I instantly became terrified and started feeling on my stomach. "Are my babies okay doc, if you have to say anything you can say it in front of them, it's okay."

He let out a big sigh before speaking and checking his clipboard, this made me even more scared for what he was about to say. "Well, you were struck across your head really hard which caused you to lost a lot of blood and this made things a little complicated for your pregnancy. You will need a few people to come in and donate blood, so we can get you back on track."

I was lost for words because I didn't want anything happening to my babies. "You could check my file to see if I'm able to give blood," Maci got up volunteering.

"My lady unfortunately if you don't have O positive blood type then that will be impossible. Plus this is a trauma case we have here so we need to deal with it right away."

I was scared but I was happy to have these people here right now by my side because I really needed them. I know what happened and nobody could tell me any different especially at this moment. Why would he fake his death like that?, he was changing so why would he wanna go and do something so crazy like that.

Everybody left out of the room except for Nick, I just knew it was because he wanted to tell me something. "Umm, I believe what you said earlier. Yesterday I got a call from the detective asking to come down to the cemetery because somebody dig it up, they said we buried an empty casket."

"WHAT, wait so that means you knew him..."

"No, I didn't know he was alive but when this happened to you that confirmed it. I just wish I know why he did this shit because his death hurt each one of us different, then he went and did this shit to you. Vanny, I don't have the slightest idea as to what's going on, hence the reason I didn't get the police involved. They have me as a suspect in all of this, and I'm just as lost as the next guy."

Tears were pouring down my face, snot was draining out my nose because I was hurting. I was hurting because he left me to deal with all that's going on around me, not only did he left me with a lot of baggage but he left his entire family with it. Nick started rubbing my back, handing me a piece of tissue, and comforting me. I needed that more than anything right now.
