As I made my way to my car I paid close attention to my surroundings because I know at some point I'll have to use my gun, and I wasn't gonna be caught out here lacking. I jumped into my truck, turning the ignition, and then rested my head on my steering wheel, shutting my eyes, and I started to silently pray to myself.
TAP! TAP! TAP!
I pitched up, latching onto my Glock only to see that it was Rod and Vanny. "yo y'all almost got lit up just now, and why your shawty knocking on my window like that."
Rod chuckled, "my bad bro, I just wanted to let you know that we were going to stop for the kids then head home, I don't know if you want me to follow you and make sure you get home safe?"
"Well look at my little brother trying to be the bigger brother, Nah I'm good I got my toolie right here by my side. I'm gone stop by Maci too, probably stay there for a minute make sure her and the kids good."
"Aight bet, what time you wanna come back here, you know they said we can come back anytime so you just give me a shout and I'll come get you and we can roll together." We dapped up each other and I told Vanny goodbye. In the past me and my sibling's relationship was nearly finished but I am happy that this moment brought each and every one of us close again, I just wish it wasn't due to these circumstances. I didn't know the condition my sister was in because well she just got there, and when we left she still was in a deep sleep, but the doctors and nurses assured me that she's in good care.
Pulling out the hospital's parking garage and making my way to Maci's crib, I was in so much deep thought. I thought about how no matter what I do or who I tried to be with I always end up back with Maci and my family and that showed me that's where I belong. I was still in shock that my wife who I barely knew was related to my sister's crazy baby daddy, my whole marriage was a fucking set up. Something was telling me that eventually, I'll need to start back my sessions with my psychiatrist because I needed to vent.
Where I was in so much deep thought I didn't realize how fast I got to Maci's house, and to no surprise, I was met with Roddy who was actually leaving. "Um, I hope you don't mind but we decided we're gonna take Nathan and Niyah with us cause you guys already have three babies to tend too, we'll just make it even. Maci already agreed with it, I hope it's not a problem, " Vanny asked.
"Nah it's all good with me, come on we all family and if Mai said it's ok then it's okay. You guys just be safe and everybody strap in, " I bent down and gave my niece and nephew a kiss on the forehead then made my way inside.
As soon as I got to the door and noticed the most beautiful sight ever, looking at them made me realize how much I took for granted, how I almost missed out on all of this. "Hey, is he sleeping?"
